Need a new microphone

Basically I need a new microphone. I currently use a G35 that sits on my desk, with it occasionally going around my neck. It's fairly good quality but I'm getting sick of lugging it around when I only use it as a microphone.

I've heard mixed things about the modmic, and also the zm mic 1. Can people vouch for either of these/other microphones? I don't even care if it's a desk microphone. I'm not looking for a studio microphone or anything absurd like that - just something that will do the job for a reasonable price.

Thanks.

modmic fits your description perfectly. it is also detachable. you attach a small magnetic piece to your headset and you can pull the mic off whenever you want.

zalman clip on is a good alternative if the mod mic is too expensive for you. quality isn't the best but it gets the job done.

That zalman mic is great. Good quality, cheap, and easy to bring with you wherever.

Is it actually possible to get a modmic right now? Version 2 seems to still be preorder only, and version 1 isn't available anymore (at least not directly from AntLion)

Price isn't the issue - though I've heard the wait for the modmic is absurd. Had a friend waiting a month or so to receive his before he got it.

Will think about it. Thanks for input.

Except you'll have to wait nearly 4 months for them to ship these "pre-orders"

My wait was about a month and a half and I just used my webcam mic in the meantime. It's worth the wait for one of these though. They do a really good job with quality control and you can't really fault them for being slow.

If money isn't an issue just get the zalman for the time being and then order the modmic. It's never a bad idea to have a backup mic anyway.
