Just used the dx9 config, still crashes.

im getting a shitload of crashes too, my first ever crash while actually playing just happened to me

valve will probably release an update for it right before a lan match

I can't play 5 minutes without crashing

Reinstalled the team fortress folder and it fixed the problem mostly.

Having the same problem, currently reinstalling the core tf2 files i'll let you know if it works

A couple of my friends and I are having this same problem

I was having a problem last night in a pug, along with shrt, where we would crash out if someone joined the server. Defragging my game files appears to have fixed the issue, but I will post back if any issues come up.

what does defragging the game files exactally do?

OK so the most recent update has created a tonne of issues revolving crashing. There is an entire Reddit thread about it so it isn't just you. I've also been having this problem to such an extent that I spent the majority of today trying to fix it. Just hang tight until Valve patches it.

I only played for an hour after i fixed it so i'm not sure if it's completely gone. Though i went from crashing every 2-10 minutes to not crashing for that hour.

Anyone have any more ideas regarding this problem? I've been crashing after 4 or 5 mins every time I try and start TF2. It then proceeds to freeze up my entire computer so I have to hold the power button and restart. Any more info regarding this would be great thanks.

Like drogo said it seems to be whenever someone joins the game you're tf2 crashes. I tried defragging and it didn't work so I guess we are just waiting on a patch at this point :(

Not sure if this will work for everyone but I changed from dxlevel 81 to 91 and I have not gotten any crashes since. Before I was crashing every time someone entered the server I was playing in

They've been having problems trying to fix tf_forced_holiday not working if I'm reading the mailing list correctly. Apparently the other builds they made were worse.

I just wanna play dm, but people keep leaving and joining making me crash. :[

This guy's got it. -dxlevel 91 works, at least until Valve fixes it.
