i remember reading something a month or so ago that like certain tournament organizers were having a hard time paying chinese teams because its difficult getting money into china for a variety of reasons. wonder if valve will have the same problem. i think it was something in regards to like DK not getting paid for some tournament but i cant remember which one

marmadukeGRYLLSdownpourfrom what i understand, they keep it all and valve pays the taxes on it
i think he's wondering how much the sponsor takes. it's gotta be a sizable chunk.

That's not how most sponsors work, the fact that Na'vi EVER took money from their players is kind of a joke. EG doesnt take anything, iG did the opposite in TI2, their owner matched their winnings. (they won the 1 mil, and were given another mil on top of that)

Sponsors profit from players in many ways, if the only way you can profit is taking their winnings then you're doing it wrong.

Oh, and valve makes sure the money goes directly to the players.

SaberRadmanLeave it to China to find the gayest way to play the game. When focus moved away from ricing carries, they transitioned into 25 minute deathball pushes.wow haha yeah nobody learned how to counter that haha!

haha! c9 never beat vici's deathball pushes by splitfarming and heavy lane winning/perfect ganking! haha not even once! haha.

if they hadn't done lvl 1 rosh(fucking ego move by envy calling that) they would have won lanes i think and had a good shot at winning that 3rd game

A lot teams take a small percentage of prize winnings (10-15%). The players sign a contract with the organization (the org owns their rights) and Valve has to honor that agreement. The prize winnings generally go through the organization and then get distributed to the players sans whatever cut the organization takes per the contract.

I thought Valve pay the players though, which is why Artsyle was removed from Navi because he kept his share instead of giving a percentage to the org. That was a long time ago so it could have changed.

To my knowledge they did this every year.

Valve also pays the taxes on it. So when they say 25% go to the prize pool its really more like 50% since I think 50% of prize money in WA is taxed, aka you if win 2 million, you only keep 1 million after taxes.

Orgs probably have agreements with their players but to my knowledge Valve gives each player a separate check for themselves. What happens after that is beyond me.

marmadukeGRYLLShey guys when the only way to win a game is to hit buildings and there's $5 mill on the line guess what people are gonna do? find the best way to hit buildings.

people went apeshit over a puck coil cancelling tp's to then watch people hit an ancient to win the last international. the international will never have some fucking awesome 10 man teamfight to decide who wins, it'll be who gayed who harder.

Lol I didn't say it was undeserved. Relax.

"wahh i don't like it so it is gay!"

no it's called outdrafted/outplayed, rotk choked wildly during the grand finals and drafted really badly so newbee was able to exploit that draft really easily by out-fighting/out-pushing.

like come on if you find an exploitable hole in an opponent's draft is it now "GAYYYYYY" to exploit that hole? i don't understand people like you

Are you kidding me? Everyone on here goes to great lengths to hammer home how gay it is to play against off classes, and a meta that has resulted in the most underwhelming TI thus far is safe from criticism?

I mean, it's Vici's fault for running the same push strat over and over again. But can you blame them? They 2-0'd DK, they 2-1'd EG with fairly easy wins. They did this shit WITH EASE to get into the Grand Finals. They try the same thing and they get destroyed.

Vici was a team that no one (except Newbee and even fucking C9 apparently) was good enough to counter and only had one trick up their sleeve. Vici and everyone who lost to them should be embarrassed.

somewhat bump.

It's not necessarily "the meta" that made the finals underwhelming, it was rather how strong Newbee are, and an outdraft. VG drafted facerush, while Newbee drafted better lanes. Not only that, this "meta" that has been recently cycled in (this style was real popular by the Chinese back in '11) has become more popular due to the fairly recent passive gold buff, t1 tower nerfs, and buyback nerf.

Heroes that just stall fights/disengage needed to be picked more by VG. I know that he was banned in like 2(?) of the 4 games, but they needed to think of some other heroes (THD? combine with darkseer? iono), with pugna being banned out too.
