angel1Even invite players get -fragged for no reason o.O maybe it's not ESEA, maybe it's this community? People who openly speak the truth from an invite perspective get blasted for no reason other than clicks or jealousy. If anyone should be listened to i'd think it would be people like Platinum, Ma3la or -rr. The problem seems to be there's about 20 people at the top of the game who know what they're talking about and then 500 others who have no clue. Majority rules I guess. Look in the mirror.

#6 Good In-Ear Headphones? in Hardware

http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-100-in-ear-headphones/

I like using the wirecutter cause they review a ton of headphones and are pretty thorough in their work. They seem to suggest the Sony XBA-C10IP model this time. Last time (probably within the last 2 months) they suggested the Velodyne vPulse model so you might wanna check that out.

I have a pair of Shure SE-215Ks whose sound quality is pretty good, soundstage is (as expected) not as good as full sized over the ear headphones. The big plus for this pair is that they pretty much have earplugs with holes in them for sound so you get really good isolation. Unfortunately, they're kind of uncomfortable for periods more than 1-2 hours and I find myself having to take a break after that.

I also had a pair of Klipsch S4s which I liked a lot; they're really cheap now (look around at the S4i/S4a variations because those tend to change price frequently) and sound pretty good but didn't sound as full as the SE215Ks - of course, this is pretty subjective...

#10 Wanna buy 120hz monitor in Hardware

I have the ASUS 144 Hz - compared to my other display, which is a 24" IPS panel, the colors are less rich/saturated but I think images look fine on it. It's my main display now and I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Also the colors out of the box weren't terrible; I think one of the Amazon reviews mentioned another monitor review site where people posted their calibrated settings so you could get some idea of what values tend to work for these monitors. After messing around with the settings a little I got it to where I like it.

#3 Gaming router? in Hardware

I like to use thewirecutter whenever I'm looking for new stuff. They tend to be pretty thorough IMO but can suggest things that are a bit overkill.

I went for the ASUS RT-n56U which has throttling/gaming optimization which is their "good" router; I've had no problems with it so far and it's definitely faster for wireless transfers between computesr than my old router was (DIR-655).

The wirecutter's top recommendation now is the RT-n66u which is $140 and also has the QOS/throttling thing, but they dont seem to mention much about the d-link routers unfortunately.

#3 quick question on qck mass or qck in Hardware

I had a qck mini (normal qck thickness but smaller than the mass) and now use a qck mass. In my experience the mass is less prone to wrinkling or getting moved by mouse movement, etc. and less affected by particles getting randomly stuck under the mousepad (admittedly kind of a small issue and one that's remedied easily anyway).

I really prefer the mass anyway, based on those factors, but I doubt you'll see a difference in performance.

#6 Warsow Mouse Settings in Off Topic

Yeah I get what feels like a solid 120+ fps (my overlay doesnt seem to want to work for this) - it's a feeling just like #3 and #4 said, equivalent to having turned my sensitivity setting down. I'm running windowed, not sure if that matters.

#1 Warsow Mouse Settings in Off Topic

I didn't want to keep asking for technical help about wsw in the official thread so I made this one. I realize this is in OT and not other games but I figured since the original post is there this would help it get associated with that one.

I've been having mouse trouble - namely that the sens in wsw feels waaay slower than in tf2. I've quoted some of the relevant posts so far.

kosAwfulcage-MuerteSmytherShould be the same. If it's 2.1 in TF2, set it to 2.1 in quake/warsow, assuming direct input and the mouse settings don't change.
Also keep an eye on your FOV though. Adjustments to your FOV will make it seem like your sensitivity is higher/lower (although it remains exactly the same).
I am using 90 fov, like in tf2 and the sensitivity is not consistent. It is significantly lower in Warsow. I'll just guess around.
noticed the same thing. I think it has something to do with raw input.

90 fov_DESIRED in tf2 is not actually fov 90, your fov changes depending on your aspect ratio. You can use this (http://www.casualhacks.net/Source-FOV-calculator.html) to calculate your actual fov in tf2 and use that as the fov value in warsow if you want your mouse sensitivity to feel the same as tf2.

I put in m_raw 1, fov 106 (I'm @ 90 on 1920 x1080 in tf2), but it still feels like my sens is waaaay too low in wsw. I have no idea what's wrong - mouse accel is off, mouse filter is of, and i'm getting good frames. V sync is off as well.

I'm on Windows 7 with a deathadder black using razer synapse, idk if that's relevant. If anyone else has had a similar problem please let me know if you managed to fix it.

Thanks

Pretty much anything by
Scale the Summit
Guthrie Govan,
Orion and Call of Cthulu by Metallica,
some of Dream Theater's instrumentals,
Liquid Tension Experiment (largely comprised of DT people + friends), and there's so many more that I'm sure I'm forgetting.

#32 Mumble and you. in TF2 General Discussion
57R4c3ShroomsyDo you have your push-to-talk key bound to somewhere that painful? Or are you having trouble talking and playing at the same time?Nah I'm just asking what preferences people have for mumble while practicing. It was supposed to be more of a general survey.
MeematI never leave it on if I'm just MGEing or DMing - you can always just mute/deafen yourself if you find it distracting. Thanks for actually answering the question. Why don't you use it during mge/dm? That's what I was getting at.

I just like to have music on or kinda try and focus on what's happeneing during MGE/DM since I use to to actively practice/warm up, instead of just shooting around (which is when I'd leave mumble on and just chat with people). I guess I just have a hard time focusing on two things at once :P
