#1 Suggest a Team Name in TF2 General Discussion

Hey guys!

Our sixes team is trying to think of a team name that looks awesome, and provides a great tag.

If you could leave your suggestions for the team name, and the tag here, it'd be greatly appreciated!

TF2 items are in store for the person who provides the one we like the best.

Please no harsh trolling.

#19 Possibilities for an Asia-Pacific Sixes Tournament in TF2 General Discussion
Andare we representing countries in asia-pacific region or the community?

I would again like to strongly stress that this is going to be made of individual sixes teams. It doesn't really matter if you have players in one team from different countries. The idea is to showcase the talent from those countries, yes, but I'm not trying to make it like a nations cup thing.

AndKennethI'm curious about how you are going to set up the infrastructure to run a league. It seems like you are just "gauging interest" which is good, it just seems like It's just you and an idea at the moment. There's been a couple of "good ideas" in this area of the world which just haven't really been thought through and died. See ATF2L, I think they ran for like a season and now are just known for shitty servers. (Please correct me if I'm wrong on the ATF2L stuff, but I know the servers are shitty as hell.)

It defiantly seems like you are not really engaged with your main audience/playerbase: Asiafortress. The fact that you discuss it with the North American scene before you discuss it with the people who would actually be playing doesn't really help you out.

I really think that the ping issues would be too much. To be honest if it was going to happen it probably already would have happened. I mean, more power too you and if you can make this work, awesome. But it's not necessarily going to be an easy battle to do that.

I guess the thing is how do you attract players and teams. It really seems like you want to make the preeminent TF2 competition on this side of the world to determine the best in the region (Spoiler alert, it's iM). Are you going to provide a prize pot? Some sponsored prizes? Because I do not see the prospect of playing against asian teams on laggy servers for little to no reward for winning attracting the best of the best of the teams in the Australian scene.

Even though we are close, I don't really see the "Asia Pacific region" as a organizational region for TF2. It's quite similar to how the North and South American scenes are separate. The US and Canada share common language, have similar culture, and the internet isn't shocking between them. When you add in South America, not so much. Australia and New Zealand share common language, have similar culture, and the internet isn't shocking between us. When you add in Asia, not so much.

I don't want to discourage you but there are defiantly some issues to work through. You need to respect all sides of this and realize that to pull this off you are going to need some smart people with established credibility in all areas working hard towards the vision you have of this. You cannot do this on your own, and if you try and fail you will most likely make a lot of people very angry and gain a reputation over the ordeal. If you can make it work well with a good staff, you stand to advance the scene quite a bit this side of the globe. Best of luck.

You raise many points, some I disagree with, but for sure, some I do agree with.

I would like to point out that I have posted a thread on the AsiaFortress forums, and I have actually spoken to players from the top teams and they don't seem to think ping will worry them, especially if the cause is plainly to raise awareness of the talent in the region. At the moment the people in that area seem really keen, it's the people in the countries I thought it would be easiest to engage: Australians and New Zealanders, that are being the most negative about the whole idea.

As for the attraction part, as I have said, I am happy to put forward the prizes out of my own pocket, but donations from the community may be something to be considered. Once again, I appreciate your points and I will consider them. I do have high-hopes for this and I see it as something that could be really huge for competitive TF2 in Asia and Aus/NZ, an area which I believe hasn't made it's full mark into the scene as of yet.

It seems viewer interest is there as I've had a lot of people actually add me and tell me they like the idea. My next objective is get the teams to show their interest. I am going to approach the very best from all over Asia-Pacific, but I need a format.

I was wondering if I could get opinions on how many teams we should have, how many from each region, who is allowed to sign up, etc.

#2 TF2 Crashing instantly after launch in Q/A Help

I had this problem happen to me, I just reinstalled because I'm so knowledgeable and it actually worked. Not going to recommend it though, I'm sure there's a reason why this is happening and I'm sure people will be able to help you out.

renxzenwhere do i donate?

Also, any news in the southamerica scene? I guess not.

Depending on interest, donations may start. I'm not sure about South America, I think it's just too far away to be apart of this one, couldn't they compete with the Americans and Canadians?

#10 Possibilities for an Asia-Pacific Sixes Tournament in TF2 General Discussion

Just a quick heads up to everyone. Over on the OzFortress thread the Australians strongly believe this is a good idea, but they feel the ping for people playing in other countries would be too high. The servers will most likely be based in Australia, or possibly in New Zealand if it works better for everyone. Anyway, the thing that I'll need to know is do people have any ideas or theories to stop this, and, would the people in countries further away be willing to play with x ping?

ShounicPost this on Asia Fortress. Give us a date. Make it happen :D

I'll try again now but when I tried to make an account last night, it was sort of weird because I'd fill in all the sign up info, and when I pressed the button nothing happened. The thing that's really going to get this going will the support of teams from countries such as Japan, China, etc, so I really want to get a thread up in there now.

PinkI am ready! Gonna represent the Philippines:D

It's fantastic that you're interested, but I would like to point out that this is not a nation's cup, this is a competition made of individual sixes teams. My idea is to get teams from all different divisions from all different leagues. It's perfectly fine if players in teams are from different countries.

Worked hard to get home early to watch the game. Luckily the HRG game was casted, but I really wanted to watch that game. Dissapointed.

#4 Possibilities for an Asia-Pacific Sixes Tournament in TF2 General Discussion
EdyPretty much no games from Asia, Japan, whatever gets casted (atleast not on tf.tv) so it'd be cool to see some matches from those general regions.

That's what I'm hoping. Competitive in Australia is sort-of established, but I'm looking to bring other countries in the region into it as well to display their talent.

kaiserRegI know nothing about Asia Fortress, at all. So I'd love to see the competition in Asia Fortress and just how different it might be.

Maybe if it gets popular enough, we could see some representation at i52?

Great to hear your interest. Possibly, yes. :P Maybe a few teams at the nations cup with 400 ping?
