#72 TF2 Rewind LAN at Esports Arena - Jan 21-22 in LAN Discussion

For LAX, b4nny recommended using this service: http://shuttletolax.com/

An UBER from LAX to the Holiday Inn will run a little over $50 each way, that is not factoring in surge rates. Even split 3 ways thats kinda pricey. Please keep in mind too that in southern California, random traffic happens. It is entirely possible to get stuck for 1.5 hours getting down here from LA.

#26 Orange Box on Xbox One in TF2 General Discussion

https://gamerant.com/the-orange-box-xbox-one-backward-compatible/

The Orange Box also features Team Fortress 2, and while the game received more support on Steam than it ever did on Xbox 360, perhaps its online community will get a shot in the arm now that it is finally playable on a new-gen console.

HildrethsamifaceHildrethStrongly considering going, can anyone recommend cheapest accommodation options in the area?
they're working on a deal with the holiday inn which should be the most reasonable/where everyone is probably staying... hopefully will get that info soon

Thanks.

Will the deal be for the weekend only? I am not flying all the way to California to spend the weekend just at a LAN, I will want to stay a few days longer to see some of the sights.

I can't say for certain until it's actually available (we just spoke with them today and should expect it soon), however with the last time they ran this deal i played around with the hotel site and dates and it gave a few days in either direction. we'll update the thread once the hotel goes live and you guys can check it out.

nick_If a team were to play in the open tournament would they not be able to watch the finals of the invite tournament, or are they staggered.

Most of the scheduling will be announced day-of by the admin and will depend heavily on how many teams show up. they'll schedule it in a way that none of the 4 tournament finals overlap, however.

slizzHello,
May you please have some kind of a crowd fund if its possible, to increase the prize pools, so the competition increases and more euros come over?
thanks

also is the fee $15 for those who want to play and use computers but not compete?

thanks cu@

That's something we're working on with ESA. Since all the money goes through them, we're trying to find the right way to help crowdfund while giving something back that's of value to the people contributing. There are ideas already in the works on how to do this so expect more info on that.

The $15 is if you want to participate in the other games: Halo and Shadowrun, but yes you can also use a PC to just play if you don't have a team. They're going to be doing more than just tournaments there.

KonceptI know there were some talks of a few EU teams making the trip over. Are there any confirmed teams as of now? Or even some teams that were talking seriously about making the trip over? It'd be so cool to see more teams making the trip

No teams are confirmed. Obviously this is just a starter prize pool to get the ball rolling, we'll see where it takes us from there.

fightI really don't get the appeal of tablet OR modular controllers, can someone shed a bit of light on this for me by any chance

I dont get it at all. This doesn't excite me in any way, but likely because when I go outside I dont have time to do fun videogame things :/

#32 Big news for the ESA lan in TF2 General Discussion
Tino_3 months is peanuts when setting stuff like this up. Especially when there is nothing confirmed in the way of sponsors, tourny format and who will even be attending. If they want this to be a i series type event 3 months is cutting it close. For a gxl like event 3 months is a decent ammount of time but not for what it sounds like they want to do.

We're coordinating with Esports Arena because this is their event; it's not them hosting our lan. It's us showing up for theirs. Please try to keep in mind, this is the first time they're working with TF2 and most of ESA's events are local, so 3 months out is actually really good.

Most of the things that haven't been announced yet are based on the fact that we simply won't know until we can get approval/announcement/money. I made a giant post in the original thread with as much info as we could... it's not that we're trying to hide it, it's that we don't have anything other updates to give you until the announcement's been made. There are still going to be some things that are up in the air as we work to get sponsors.

#24 Big news for the ESA lan in TF2 General Discussion
saamsamifaceHey guys,

If you have more simple questions like this I urge you to ask myself or B4nny. I'm literally doing work on this every day. Feel free to add me on steam, there may be things like that which I can help out with, and I tried to keep the original thread updated so you guys would be kept up to date (especially with regards to an ETA on the announcement). ESA are deffo doing their best to take care of us, but just like anything else we can't tease anything that's not set in stone (i.e. prize pool).

xoxo

I realize this really only affected my team but you should try to get info on what teams are invited out way earlier. I had assumed that since we weren't making invite playoffs we wouldn't be going but when I asked b4nny he said all invite teams were invited.

Interesting... the three of us should talk

slizz@samiface
are there two or only one invite division?
thanks for you and everyone's hard work!

We're planning both an invite and an open tournament, those will run concurrently. All the signups and entry fees will be handled by ESA, but there should be plenty of room for everyone to compete.

#4 Acceptable behavior in MM? in TF2 General Discussion

I play a ton of MM because it's just a lot easier and faster to get games and I don't have to leave mumble. I honestly think the new ranking system they use now would be perfect- if there were a larger playerbase. While there's still only 30-100 people searching at any given time, it's going to keep plunking you in with permaspys/permapyros who think they are gods.
