OsirisWhen it comes to commentators I don't really listen to the analysis after a month or so of following the game(whatever that game may be; e-sport, sport or game), so I just find it important that they appear professional in the sense of not saying anything bad and that they are good hosts.
this notion is something that I very much disagree with.
first of all, the notion of not needing an analyst, even for relatively new viewers, is not a good one. the play-by-play/color combination is used by every professional casting pair, from real sports to larger esports. if done correctly, every viewer should be able to follow the action while also getting a sense of some of the larger tactical themes encompassing them.
second, I do not believe that being a professional casting personality must entail no negative comments about the teams and players. any good analysis requires some level of judgment of the teams, and to deny that from the viewers is to rob them of a huge part of the game. if froyo beats mix^ there's obviously a reason for it. was it better dm? fewer mistakes? better chemistry? better overall playstyle? or did they get lucky in some way? obviously there's never only one right way to answer such a question, but fans appreciate that type of analysis.
the problem with our game is that no one gets paid to cast, so most high-level players don't wanna go all the way down to GXL and not even get to play
one good format that often works in such a scenario is to try to get players who have already been knocked out of a tourney to come in as analysts, ESL always does that for csgo and it's pretty entertaining
I personally would love to cast this if I were able to do so from home but it seems like that's impossible rip
im rdy for hella yukon

MunchThe main problem that was going on when stalin was running new map pugs is that it was hard to get people that actually wanted to test new maps. Sure we could get 12 in a server but they'd either just fuck around the entire pug or they just never gave any actual feedback and kept asking if we could play the "good" maps instead (which at the time was sunshine). Imo if people want to get GOOD NEW maps into the rotation there needs to be a group of higher level players... like IM+ at least taking a few hours out of their nights on pug.na or whatever to just play some new maps and give actual feedback to the map makers. This would also help with the problem of people just voting in whatever without actually knowing what the map is like at all.
someone needs to start an OLD MAP PUGS group
