TheFragilelambdaOkay, thanks for the help. I'm looking to upgrade the capacity. So would this also be a viable option?

And about the ram, would adding 2gb be over the top. My computer uses a ton of ram at the moment for simple things like watching twitch, and playing dota. Is that normal, or not?

You posted the same link as the original post. :p

How much RAM do you currently have?

4.00 Gb (3.75 usable)

zephyrlol thats another 3.5" look at the name of the product "SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"". The 3.5" means it's 3.5 inches which will likely not fit into your port.

Yeah ,sorry. I accidentally copy-pasted the same link as before. Edited out. Thanks for telling me.

erkstonlaptop drives are usually 2.5", you've linked a 3.5" onePlatypusThat's a 3.5 inch hard drive, you need a 2.5 inch hard drive like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2W014P4564

You can upgrade you laptop's RAM, it will just take laptop SO-DIMM modules, instead of desktop DIMM modules. Check to see how many sockets it has before ordering anything. However, you probably won't need more than 4gb of RAM unless you're doing extensive CAD work or heavy Video and Photo editing

Okay, thanks for the help. I'm looking to upgrade the capacity. So would this also be a viable option?

Edit: nvm, Above drive looks good.

#1 Urgent computer help please. in Hardware

Hello, yesterday I made a post about how my hard drive was failing (post -http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/14179-is-my-laptop-done-for-dead), but now I really need help in figuring out what replacement parts would work with my laptop. It's really an emergency, as I feel it could die any day now. I need this laptop for school, and I can only afford these replacements right now.

I have no idea what I need so any help would be appreciated thanks!

p.s.

is it possible to upgrade my laptop memory to more than 4 gigs?

#6 Is my laptop done for (dead)? in Hardware

Wow, that's actually amazing. I've been getting clicking noises on this computer for at least the past 2 years now. I never though it was a big deal since I didn't ever get the indication like I did today.

Alright, well that sucks. If this fails than that's it I suppose. I can't afford anything right now, not even an external hard drive to back it up. Do you suggest just turning it off and not using it?

#1 Is my laptop done for (dead)? in Hardware

Every time steam has tried to download updates for team fortress I've been getting clicking noises from my hard drive. My computer then becomes unresponsive and needs to be reboot by holding down the power button. I know that people would probably say that the "click of death" is in no way a good thing, but can someone tell me what I'm looking at here, and how much time I have left before my computer dies. Any help would be great, thanks!

#1 Feedback on my Song? in Off Topic

Hello, I was wondering if the music heads, or anyone for that matter, in the community would be willing to take some time and give me some feed back on this recent song of mine. Its borderline edm, electro. Any opinions at all would really be great. Thanks!

Are you doing to do more research? Or are you simply going to use your s4 more? I just wanted to clarify on how you would become more informed.

#1 Cyanogenmod? in Off Topic

Has anyone here rooted their phone or tablet and used something like cyanogemod? I am thinking of rooting my nook and installing cyanogenmod to the internal storage in place of the nook firmware. My question is, if you have, is doing something like this worth it?
