#13 no man's sky in Other Games
Khagani heard that if you leave a planet and come back all the stuff will be different. so all of your stuff that you worked on all those hours gone in seconds. that kind of sucks. idk if thats completely true though

I'm not sure if this is correct or not, but in a video I watched the lead designer said something alone the lines of "when you leave the planet, it's all gone. The grass, trees, etc etc." It sounds like he means your progress is also gone, but I took it as he meant it is no longer rendered by the game. At the time he was talking about how the interstellar environment loads all around you as you move throughout it, so I assumed by him saying "it's all gone" he just meant it is no longer using up resources. As I said though - he could have meant everything changes and your progress is lost. Which would be a deal breaker, IMO.

Overall I get a very similar feeling from this game that I did from Spore. Thankfully EA doesn't have control over this one, so hopefully it will be better than the massive letdown that Spore was.

This guy has been doing this for a few weeks. Different alias every time, but he will get 4 doms, run to last, and shit talk for the rest of the game.

#304 bwHUD in Customization

You need 2 files to do that. First, in custom/yourstuff/resource/ClientScheme.res, do a ctrl+f search for "damage". The first hit should be under the Color Options section. This will change the color of your damage numbers. Use the values 255 255 255 255 for all white. It should look like this:

"Damage"                "255 255 0 255"     //Damage numbers

Then, in custom/yourstuff/resource/ui/HudDamageAccount.res make sure that everywhere it says "font" it is set to "solFontRegular21" or "solFontBold21" which is, I think, the default for bwHud. If it is changed to another font, just look for that font in the following steps instead.

Now go back to ClientScheme.res, and ctrl+f search for "solFontRegular". Fine the section for "solFontRegular21" and add the line "outline" "1" so it looks like this:

solFontRegular21
		{
			"1"
			{
				"name"		"Solomon-Normal"
				"tall"		"21"
				"additive"	"0"
				"antialias" 	"1"
				"outline"	"1"
			}

Then do another search for "solFontBold21" and repeat the process, adding the line for outline. This will add the outline to your damage numbers for regular hits and crits.

#694 PC Build Thread in Hardware

Here is what I've put together. I would love to wait for the i3 6100 but as I mentioned my current PC is totally dead, so this is more urgent. Does this all look ok?

I would be overjoyed if I could get a constant 120fps for under $300. I'm fine with overclocking if it is recommended but for simplicity's sake I would prefer not to.

#690 PC Build Thread in Hardware

I'm thinking it would be a waste of resources to replace low end parts. I hate to be that guy but is there a pretty standard cheap build for TF2 these days? Is it possible to get 120 fps (with lowest settings - I actually like DX8) for a few hundred bucks? A mobo, processor, ram, and gpu specifically.

Thanks a ton btw Setsul; you're advice in this thread is amazing.

#688 PC Build Thread in Hardware

In a bit of a sticky situation and need advice. My motherboard died after 7 years, and I want to hopefully replace as little as possible as I don't have a budget to build a new PC. Do you think I can upgrade my mobo and ram while keeping everything else? It's all pretty old so I'm unsure of compatibility issues with new hardware.

I only play TF2, and primarily jump, DM, or bball, so I can usually run 120+ frames. I'm not too concerned about 120 in pubs but dropping below 60 wouldn't be ideal.

Specs:
Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3.0Ghz
nvidia geforce 9800gtx
Gigabyte ep45-ud3r (dead)
4Gb DDR2 ram (assuming this will need to be DDR3)
Thermaltake 600W PSU

Is it even worth upgrading the dead parts? Or do I just bite the bullet and start a whole new build?

#21 tf2 frequent lag spikes in Q/A Help

Just a quick note that I think I am experiencing this same issue, so maybe its TF2 and not us. 1-5 second "freezes" every minute or so with no actual ping increase.

#8 Graphics card dying? Clueless in Hardware

I'll definitely clean it out to see that helps, but I've never had an overheating issue before. I have my drivers rolled back to 306.97 using dx8. I rolled them back tonight after using the latest version, issue persists in both cases. My CPU is at about 55º C when I just recreated the issue in a pub.

#4 Graphics card dying? Clueless in Hardware

I guess it's possible my internet is just acting up. I've just never encountered anything like this before. I'm connecting via cable and always have, and have been using the same service provider in the same location for a few months with nothing even close to this.

#1 Graphics card dying? Clueless in Hardware

So my graphics card is quite old, and I have been running into problems in TF2 that I think (correct me if I am wrong) are symptoms of a dying card. The first issue is that about once a day my video will cut to black and windows will play the "DOO doo" chime as if I had unplugged an external device. Not a problem though, it does its "doo DOO" chime and I'm all good after a few seconds.

In the past couple of days however, I have started freezing in game for extended periods. I will lock up, but can still look around with my mouse, and after about 4 or 5 seconds I will resume normally (usually dead). I've also noticed a lot of minimal stuttering that accompanies this. On a rare occasion I will time out of TF2 after only a few seconds of being frozen, but I will not drop mumble or internet connectivity. This happens more frequently the more I play, so much so that it was happening every 30 seconds or so tonight.

Edit: I forgot to mention that if I die during a freeze, upon respawning shutter doors leaving spawn artifact very badly and tear across the screen like I just won freecell. Thats the only major graphical bug I've seen. Also, the invisible player bug happens pretty frequently after these freezes.

Am I right in thinking this is a video card gone wrong? If so, I would love a recommendation on an affordable replacement that will let me keep absolute minimum 120+ frames. My PC is pretty out dated and I haven't shopped for parts since I built it, so any help is appreciated.

Here are my specs:

Windows 7 64Bit
Gigabyte EP45-UD3R mobo
Intel Core Duo E8400 @3.0GHZ
4 GB RAM
Gigabyte GeForcee 9800GTX

I'm currently running all of the FPS improvements to maintain frame rates for a 120hz, so having pretty graphics is a non issue. All I want is consistent performance.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
