#234 Saloon.tf V2.0 in News
HereComesTheBoomglad you confirmed! the 'no official deadline to shut down' comment seemed fishy AF

It means there is no official deadline set, in case anyone asks about specific dates.

#228 Saloon.tf V2.0 in News

Well it's sad news to read that today, I spent a lot of hours working at saloon and had a lot of fun doing so.

The reason why it's shutting down won't be disclosed, and there is no official deadline to retrieve your items. Please make sure to go to https://saloon.tf/loot , select all items and click on withdraw.

As for the Nameless vs Crowns and B@GSER 5 vs Comfortably Spanked matches: I will treat them as usual. Let them be played out and as verify them as soon as I can so people can get their items.

Stempiazso Ronin vs In Theory match has been cancelled from saloon.tf because it didn't come to an end (but by the time the match ended the score was 2-0 for In Theory, score that has been accepted on esea site).
While Perillous vs NameLess has been accepted under same circumstances.
Am i missing something?

Seems site is going to die :( i'm sorry about it i did like the service

I'm not sure how the NA fixtures worked, but the DHS finals met one of the score constraints. After discussion with other staff members we came to the conclusion that in Saloon's point of view the end result wouldn't change the saloon result, hence it getting verified.

#20 spicy food in Off Topic

The thing with spicy food is that you have to build your tolerance and figure out what works for you. I spice my food with sambal which is Indonesian pepper. The middle two are the ones I use the most. left for wok dishes and right for all the rest.

#83 The Highlander Open #2 Sponsored in TF2 General Discussion

You are right, we used to have different functions but they have been consolidated to league admin. This means the admins work on 6v6 and 9v9.

#68 The Highlander Open #2 Sponsored in TF2 General Discussion

The admins were discussing amongst themselves if they could host a summer event for 9v9, as the last event was Season 10 that ended a while back. Last year we had a 9v9 nations cup, which is being alternated with 6v6 each year. (hence hosting a 6v6 cup back then).

GentlemanJonHow will you asses this demand? The competitive steam group has 180,000 members, isn't that enough of an indication of interest? Obviously it's not format specific but they've only been playing 6v6 so far.

There was/is little indication that matchmaking is going to be released soon (before the end of the year at least), and if it is, it will probably include 9v9 as the dropdown shows. Plenty of reason to push the either gamemode (we give both the same amount of attention). As for the numbers, the carrot is the word competitive, it's not like the group would be empty if it was any format apart or instead of 6v6.

Admins are players within the community, talk to other players and read forums. It's not hard to get noticed if you have a good idea for an ETF2L event.

I'm happy the HLO gets this much attention from tftv but sad to see so much hostility from a format that's established over the years. Hopefully new players won't be discouraged from trying competitive (in either format) after reading comments on an echo chamber like this.

#26 i58? in LAN Discussion
Mercyless-p sure the asian team if went would wipe the floor with the garbage div2 european teams and only lose to top 5 if they attended.

Not sure about that, maybe our mid teams might lose a few rounds to them, but there is only one way to find out and that's by not dodging LAN 8)

#27 VALVE Sued Over Underage Gambling Accusations in TF2 General Discussion

This is another discussion I found back in the Saloon.tf slack that went a bit deeper in the legal behind tf/cs/dota item betting

#18 TF2C Advanced lobbies trailer? in TF2 General Discussion

Reminder that it's getting close to a year after the LAN they promised to sponsor. No money has gone towards any community driven (or self hosted) event. Even though they promised their devs/staff/players that a part of the contributions would go towards that.

The reason why I'm bringing this up is because Advanced Lobbies (and probably Advanced Lobbies 2.0) were planned to be a paid service.

I guess promises can be a bit tricky to keep:

I sound super salty but nonetheless, this is another project. As long as these projects keep popping up one might take the lead and push comp tf2 forward.

lettoany logical reason? nameless won 2 maps and fullfilled the premise

I'm keeping it as is to discuss the situation with the rest of the saloon staff. Once we come to a proper conclusion I'll nullify or verify the match.

#86 DHS2016 GF: Perilous Gaming vs. nameLess in Matches

It wasn't my intention to seem like I didn't care, it's more to explain why I couldn't commit like I wanted to. I reached out before to get some indications for spreads but didn't get any response back. I'll try to either plan around big events or try to find someone to take over.

As for the handicap, it was set up to 1.5 map advantage for nL since they were the clear underdogs.
This was the minimum handicap to make a reasonable difference since the match was a best of 5.

I just got home and catching up with what happened so I will look into if the bets should be nullified or stay open but I don't have the information for that yet. I'm inclined to return the bets but I'll discuss it with the saloon staff before making any decision.

#9 DHS2016 GF: Perilous Gaming vs. nameLess in Matches
shoraskKaltUuhttps://saloon.tf/match/318Why is there a handicap on this match, but none on previous? Like nL need a handicap against Perilous, but Crowns don't need one against nL?

Couldn't find them playing on ETF2L vs each other plus schedule was wonky so I had to make it on a quick note (eventually got stalled because of coach kaido getting benched) but once it's up the handicaps can't be adjusted. Maybe if I have more time I'll look into it but I can't afford to sit behind the PC too much on my birthday, sorry.

#1 Coaches at LAN in TF2 General Discussion

Now that the issue has been breached and Kaidus isn't allowed to coach NameLess, the question is: Would coaches at LAN be possible and reasonable if both teams are able to prepare for it?

I think it's a good idea, although practicing it without all 7 players being in the same location is impossible. Will i58 allow coaches?

Nightbot doesn't like "long" messages, we might need to adjust what counts as long.

I got banned for shorter messages when mentioning saloon or saloon.tf though
