#19 presidential roster in Off Topic

Pocket Scout - Theodore Roosevelt: Roosevelt was known for his adventurous spirit and his willingness to charge into battle, making him a great fit for the fast-paced role of pocket scout. His experience as a Rough Rider during the Spanish-American War also gives him a strong background in combat.

Flank Scout - John F. Kennedy: Kennedy's charisma and charm make him an ideal choice for the more nimble and agile flank scout position. He was also an athlete in his youth and had a reputation for being physically fit, which would serve him well in this role.

Pocket Soldier - George Washington: As the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, Washington has the tactical expertise and leadership skills needed to serve as the pocket soldier. He also had a reputation for being a fearless and strategic fighter, which would make him an asset in this role.

Roamer - Abraham Lincoln: Lincoln's tall stature and long reach would make him a natural fit for the roamer role, which involves jumping and moving around the map to get into position for surprise attacks. His ability to think creatively and make quick decisions would also be valuable in this role.

Demoman - Ulysses S. Grant: As a general during the Civil War, Grant was known for his tactical brilliance and ability to coordinate large-scale attacks. These skills would translate well to the role of demoman, which requires players to use explosives to control areas of the map and take out enemy structures.

Medic - Franklin D. Roosevelt: Roosevelt's leadership skills and calm demeanor would make him an excellent choice for the high-pressure role of medic. He was also known for his ability to inspire and motivate others, which would be valuable in keeping the team focused and determined during matches.

Overall, this team would be an interesting mix of personalities and skill sets, with a combination of tactical expertise, physical prowess, and creative thinking that could make for a formidable competitive roster

PS my roster would shit on mustards

#9 Day 3 - Current Website Changes in TF2 General Discussion

hi
bit of a ramble but just wanna share some technical details for those interested

want to start with some of the ideas that we've already discussed, our ideal solution is one where logs and demos are automatically uploaded directly to us (which may or may not be feasible). Once we have the logs stored we would ideally have a parser which could interpret all the stats and have them available on the match page, but also have aggregate stats, individual season stats, and many more. there are so many interesting ways to present all this data, and potentially develop new stats that haven't been available before, such as per door push success percentages or sac success percentages. these to me are what I'm most excited to explore.

the central challenge of this begins with the fact that RGL is a for-profit entity, and has decently large scale.

so on one hand, we have the resources to make something really good that will work forever for RGL's specific use case. we can store logs and demos specifically from matches, potentially pugs (and even possibly scrims someday). If we do this, we want to do it right, which means keep this stuff available forever and make it all happen automatically.

the astute among you might be thinking, "oh just collab with logs.tf or demos.tf, simple." This ties into the second part, scale of our organization. It's not really feasible for us to pass such a large burden onto zoob or Icewind, even if they were down for it. For one, we don't want to rely on their generosity forever, and second comes back to my original point that as an organization we have the resources to get it done ourselves- with our specific needs in mind for design.

ppl can post logs.tf and demos.tf links in the match comms right now, and I think its even part of the rules to do so but no one does. I think even if there was box or something to enter the link, that solution isn't good enough and I personally believe our solution needs to be better than that

In terms of actually solving this problem, we are currently working to design a solution so everything can be accessed quickly as well as stored cheaply. In addition, everything needs to be secure, which is not a straightforward problem to solve. So ultimately this will probably take us at least Q1 to complete a minimum viable product, with some basic functionality.

the current implementation of the site is decently large and not that easy to modify in it's current form, we are undertaking work now to make systemic changes to allow easier development for us now and others in the future. all these factors in conjunction make this a difficult problem to get right so hopefully this sheds some light on why this can't happen immediately.

happy to answer any questions as well :)
