Still worth watching, we were spiking a bit but there was still a lot of good (and bad) play from both teams that is worth seeing I think

By the way we've had a deathmatch server set up for us which we'll be using throughout the bootcamp (particularly 1-2 hours before scrims). If you'd like to come play with us then either check the server listing on tf.tv or direct join on: connect 85.236.101.2:27015

Termo has also made a steam group for announcements etc : http://steamcommunity.com/groups/imdeathmatch

The server has the normal dm settings (I think) although demos aren't super gimp so we can actually get some real practice in.

If you're planning on going into a lot of the big touristy things then the london pass is worth it. I'm headed to london today with the gf until the boys arrive on tues & thats what we're planning (end up making your money's worth after like half the attractions entry fees)

Even if multiplay doesn't move the final at all can we _please_ keep the tournament set up as similar to last year as possible? Obviously finals may need to be moved to the Saturday coz starting at 730 am is ridiculous, but I think it'll be a real shame if we don't run with the pro groups seeds -> groups -> finals that we had last year.

This is awesome if it works consistently. I find that when I rewatch vods (especially at big events like i49 when we were playing and I couldn't watch) that I'm missing out on something without chat

Does this mean that we are going to have to squish more games in on Saturday? -_-

Sniper imo, just think about how many snipers there are that offclass poorly as scout after being mistreated by the game (...)

d4m0It's pretty stupid that our news is saying things like '28 australians killed in plane explosion' how fucking narcissistic is this country
Our prime minister: "Russian-backed rebels have killed Australians... Australia takes a very dim view indeed" excuse me but people from other countries exist too this is sickening

"The trampling of justice and decency in the pursuit of national aggrandisement and reckless indifference to human life should have no place in our world," Mr Abbott said.

It's not like the networks are belittling the suffering of individuals or other nationals on board the plane... Any "national" news networks in the world would be broadcasting tragedies like this in exactly the same way. Broadcasting the loss of fellow citizens is hardly narcissistic, especially seeing as anywhere that you find those statistics they will appear next to the numbers of all other nationals on board.

This kind of tragedy is both distressing and disheartening, and my heart goes out to all of the families and friends of those 298 passengers and crew who unwittlingly became victims yesterday.

#22 Ruleset Discussion in TF2 General Discussion

I think there are merits to both, but the nature of turtling with a 30 minute time limit is a bigger detriment to the game than a "more passive style" that na ruleset apparently encourages.

Look at the turtling that occured at i49 (and the turtling that should have occured -_-) - e.g. us defending last vs hrg when we were 2-1 up. I really hate that our best move was to sit around and waste time with a 1 round buffer, and the eu ruleset really exacerbates maps with problem chokes & holds like snakewater. The reality is that not having that extra "clean slate" 30 minutes doesn't force teams to play more aggressive, it forces a vast disparity of desperate aggression and utterly tedious holds because there's simply too much at stake. When two really good (international quality) teams are playing against each other (particularly on some maps), only having 30 minutes is going to encourage less risk taking in the first 25 minutes of the game & will likely result in more frequent low-scoring games with drawn out rounds.

I think the "passive" playstyle that you're rreferring to comes a lot more from the players & teams than from the ruleset too btw. AU tf2 has been using NA ruleset forever and although most of the teams in aus have historically been weaker than other scenes, there has been very little evidence of this kind of playstyle causing a detriment to the gameplay/viewing experience

#19 i52 Media Coverage in TF2 General Discussion

I definitely agree with the fact that watching tf2 lan streams doesn't have the same excitement as other games - and that most of the reason for this is a lack of interaction between what is actually happening at the event and the game itself. TF2 is a hard game to set up something similar to most cs casts though imo, and maybe its unrealistic to have "team cams" (even just end of round switches) during the bracket stages - but surely something like that could be possible by the time it comes to finals where both teams are in one place?

Another option could be team mumble cuts I suppose - but i know a lot of players hate those so that might not be a great idea either.

Something easy though could be just walking the camera around more during games/in between games - if you guys remember i49 some of the interviews happened at our tables (which for us and hrg were right near the casting stage), and I think rather than just having the cam on the spectators during downtime it might be a good idea to walk the camera around a bit, and to do it during games as well (particularly if the two teams playing each other are sitting together) to give the spectators a bit of a feel for whats going on.
