ScrewBDid you run DDU before installing your new GPU?
Yeah, I've done all that. Some games it's great. Resident Evil 2/3 Remakes run like butter, for example.
I just wanted to know if anyone had a detailed technical response as to why the game runs like shit on this decent hardware.
truxlootI palm grip with big hands as wellthanks for the suggestions! my intellimouse comes in today, going to see how that goes.
didn't mind my G403 until the mouse wheel broke
used a Rival 300 before which is a good shape
XTRFY M1 and Roccat Kone EMP are big as well
I just ordered a Pro Intellimouse which I have high hopes for.
If that one doesn't work out for you, have a look at the Razer Deathadder V2. It's large, only 82g without holes and has the same welcome upgrades as their amazing Viper mouse. Decent feet, cable, optical switches, etc.
Sorry for the necro but I thought this would be worth adding.
Even though nobody can realistically get 360 FPS consistently, the higher refresh rates allow for better motion blur reduction at lower refresh rates. An example would be the Viewsonic XG270, which has a native refresh rate of 240Hz but near CRT levels of motion clarity at 120Hz. That's no surprise, as it's the only "Blur Busters Approved" monitor out right now. The more refresh rate headroom a monitor has, the higher the refresh rates it can achieve with the least amount of crosstalk.
It's a shame the "Extremely Low Motion Blur-sync" on my 280hz monitor wasn't actually calibrated by a real human, because the extra 40Hz should allow for even higher refresh crosstalk-free strobing compared to the Viewsonic, but no. Just don't get the VG279QM if you're getting it for the motion blur reduction.
SetsulWazrachthere must be some way to get it to run smoothly? No.
Case closed.
epic
Hi, does anyone have this combination? I know TF2 is an ancient game that runs horribly on modern hardware, but there must be some way to get it to run smoothly? I've tried multiple mastercomfig presets and nothing seems to stop the frequent FPS drops to about 180. The input lag is real and it's just horrible to play. I'm guessing it's the GPU, as it wasn't as noticeable before with the older and worse GPUs I played on. I'd appreciate some advice, thanks in advance.
OlghaDownload Custom resolution utility
add the res 1440x1080
use the restart.exe
launch tf2
This worked. Can't believe I didn't think about it sooner.
Thanks very much guys!
pxlyzlaunch options
- full -w 1440 -h 1080
Thanks - I tried that and like I said, it just reverts back to a crusty resolution
Cheers. I did, with Nvidia Control Panel. It doesn't show up in-game though.
Someone added me and gave me an alternative option. I'll try that later
Thanks for the detailed and helpful response!
Any more wankers want to step forward?
Hi guys, fairly shitty player who recently found that I aim better with 4:3 rather than 16:9. Unfortunately I can't select a higher res than 12xx.. something? Can't remember. Basically TF2 looks like ass and I'd like to know how I can get a better 4:3 resolution stretched like some CSGO players use. Tried setting resolution in launch options to 1440x1080 but it just forces back to a shitty res. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance
I think AMD Freesync has been causing this. I'm almost certain.
I'm not even bothered about ridiculous draw distance or anything, I just want to see my viewmodels with the highest detail. It seems my computer can't handle DX9+ without slight input lag and choppiness.
I'd just like to know what I could buy to get a smooth framerate on high settings. I plan to get a 144Hz soon, so if I could get more frames than that on high settings, that'd be nice.
I am using Chris' highquality config (movie is just ridiculous). The FPS fluctuate between like 50 and 100, it's difficult to describe. Like I said, it's only really a problem when I go into Casual or a proper map with lots of players.

I tried setting my CPU fan speed to "Performance" as opposed to "Standard", but that didn't make a difference.
