Season 12 had 39 teams, so even with the emergence of Main it's not a bad turnout. Number-wise at least.

Mr_Owl51 teams, though 5 have nobody paid and 4 of those aren't close to having 6 on the roster.
Pretty small open season, I guess.
It's always been high and low numbers alternating. S13 to S14 was an exception.
At least we don't have to scrim Granary to the next week straight because of the extension for you people.

london_callingobviously not, but when i'm trying to get a feel for the "better teams" in open it helps when i know who they are and have some sense of their history. a lot of the players on that roster played with chilling innorth korea which in my opinion has been a mid open team for the past 2 seasons. its not unusual for mid open teams to get good from one season to the next (see pot's team, indust we trust, playground tactics etc) but its definitely interesting to find out why they suddenly got good.
so when i'm asking who is who its mostly to find out what (or who) makes their team so good at the moment.

It's actually just Block, really. Ryugawa was a backup. At least during S13 anyway.
Why the Flash Sharks S15 team is stronger than the North Korea S13 team (in my opinion) is mainly because the Soldiers are a direct upgrade. Jake has solid damage output on pocket and Ryugawa's transition to roamer has been good, too. Again the Scouts are a little lackluster but I'll need to play them more to fully analyze the team mechanic.
Edit: Sidenote, Lick's team is awesome. You'll be making a mistake if you underestimate them this season.

the only person i recognize is snakekryptonite. who are all the rest of these people? what makes them so good?
Block was the Demo for Chilling in North Korea S13. Ryugawa pocketed for Yoshi's Island S14. The others like Erika are from their Highlander team Top Gluttons.
They'll definitely be good, specifically with less expendable Soldiers than who Block played with in S13. I wasn't that impressed with their Scouts though. I feel like Erika could be more friendly to running Kritz with Block, but maybe she simply isn't as trigger happy with Kritz as I was when I Medic'd him.

How big is IM slated to be? IIRC there are only a small number of surviving IM teams, and with the top 4 Open teams going into Main, it leaves 12 rosters (read: not teams) going into IM.
