#20 MR SLIN Appreciation Thread in TF2 General Discussion
WariCompared to Slin, I personally find marxist a whole lot more informative for actually teaching people the game

Let's compareMR_SLINPush when you have an advantage, hold or retreat when you have a disadvantage.
The degree of your advantage determines how aggressive you can be.
The degree of your disadvantage determines how quickly you need to back out.

Pretty rough comparison youre making there man.

You are pretty much taking the worst example possible from Slin, and comparing it to an in-depth analysis by Marxist.

(not to say Marxist is bad or Slin is good, just not a good representation of the two's contributions)

#15 Video Games Make You Smarter in Off Topic

Seems like another way for people who play video games for several hours a day to justify playing video games.

freakinPunching someone is assault.

Saying words isn't.

Uh, punching someone is battery.

"Saying words" and creating an environment which may lead to violence or offensive contact to another is assault.

tatuwahGuys, I was one of the people in this. We are all silver players and wanted to see the reaction from the stream if we aliased. Which was funny, they believed us. We didn't think people would get butthurt from that. We didn't tell him that we were pro he assumed. gg. It was a fun game that we did with each other. Everyone had communication except the streamers.

Dunno which is more embarrassing, the fact that you impersonated invite players, or that a "silver-level" highlander team got beat by a DayZ streamer.

SoapNo way chargers win. The barely beat KC last week against backups. Also Bengals are dominant at home

SimThat graph is obtained by:

Solve this for v: http://blog.wolfram.com/data/uploads/2012/10/Speed-Equation31.png

Then divide by the speed of sound at that altitude:

http://blog.wolfram.com/data/uploads/2012/10/Speed-Out5.png

You're not going to be able to find the "correct" equation, but the graph somewhat resembles a (negative) quartic graph so you could stick coordinates on the graph into a system of equations to get coefficients. Maybe.

While this method might work. I think he needs to find a way that works for his 12th grade functions class.

Not really feasible for him to submit something like that on a test.

simfooFind a few (x, y) pairs and interpolate from that. Type "polynomial {{x1, y1}, {x2, y2}, {x3, y3}, ...}" into Wolframalpha, it should give you an approximation polynomial that hopefully describes your function to the desired accuracy.

This is what I referred to in an earlier post. If you plug in a couple data points (the more points the better the interpolation), then wolfram alpha will give you the function of the line.

However, if you really want to get cheeky, this function looks like it represents the position of an object as it breaks the speed of sound based on what an earlier poster said. You could simply look up the function of that phenomenon.

NinjaDCI may be wrong but twitch.tv using html video now if your on android.

It defaults to Flash when I browse on desktop Chrome. Is there an option where you can opt into HTML5?

You can right click any video you are watching, and the menu dropdown will tell you the type of video.

No reason to go through the trouble of programming a mobile app. Pursuing a mobile site is much better option because it can cover several different platforms.

TerraIt's weird that the graph would show speed vs. height, rather than speed vs. time...

Because those graphs represent two different data sets.

flippers
wont work though, its not that simple.

on top of that even if it did work i would need a concrete point that is not a zero or a y intercept i think.

Your calculator should be able to find the zeros and identify a clean point for you. On the TI calculators there are zero functions. Try wolfram Alpha if you get too desperate.

2chow would you not know this isnt some kind of funky trigonometric function?

The traditional trig functions have a much more uniform figure and they also oscillate. Most though, I am assuming that he isn't covering trig functions based on the way he asks the question.
