I have an update: I can boot the computer if there aren't any USB plugged into. If I plug anything, the peripheral works for a couple of seconds then the whole computer freezes. I've managed to get to my desktop by typing my password and quickly unplugging the keyboard. I also managed to open the Peripherals window, which told me there were several unrecognized peripherals plugged into my computer. Using the "Check for new Hardware" function or trying to update the drivers failed.
Current plan is to wait for my SSD and install a fresh Windows on it.

Hi,
Following a fatal overheating issue with the laptop I used to play TF2 on, I recently built a new PC.
Specs are as follow:

Now for my issue. Upon building, everything worked fine, I had to install the new drivers on the new computer, and was ready to play again.
However, 3 days after I started using my computer, it randomly froze. It became completely unresponsive with a still image, and ppl couldn't hear me nor could I hear them on Mumble anymore.
After this incident, I power cycled the computer, and it has never been able to start since. I get through the BIOS, and as I reach Windows, 5 or 10 seconds in, the same freeze happens. It is worth noting that it can freeze on a screen that is still blank or right as I'm about to reach the desktop. From an exterior standpoint, the computer seems to keep working normally (fans are spinning, no particular noise from the drives). The odd thing is this freeze never occurs if I stay in the BIOS menu.
I browsed Google and tried a lot of fixes which I listed below:

I have ran out of ideas, and I am more than welcome for suggestions. I am planning to post this on specialized forums too.

Didn't really plan/thought about overclocking so probably no
Mostly Kovaak, Quake Live, zombie mode on Black Ops 1/3.
I don't play triple A and generally run low graphic settings on every game I play.
Constantly running TF2 above 144 (and up) is a must though if I achieved that with my shitty old laptop I'm guessing it should be manageable nowadays.
I don't stream and don't plan to.

My 4+ y.o. laptop had smoke coming out of it yesterday, so I figured it might be time for me to invest in an actual computer. However, I'm not very knowledgeable on hardware, so I'm looking for help picking components.
My budget is around 900€, though I'm open to spend a bit more if its worth it. I mainly play TF2, and other shooters, but nothing particularly intense graphically. I already own a monitor (VG248QE), and every other peripherals (mouse, keyboard, mousepad).
If anyone is versed enough to give me directions in order to get the best worth of my money it would be greatly appreciated :)

I found a fix so I'll post it here in case other people have the same issue later on:

degu had the right idea, although mat_trilinear 1 didn't fix anything until mat_filtertextures was set to 1. Enjoying the config otherwise!

just tried with r_worldlightmin 0.0002 in my custom.cfg and checked it went through in console, issue remains..
EDIT: it might be worth noting that I don't get any visual changes from trying out different r_worldlightmin values in console

Yesterday I've installed mastercomfig low to update my 2013 Chris config, and I've been encountering a visual error ever since.

I have some sort of 'light circle' around me, its especially noticeable on light-themed maps such as process. When I move around with my movement keys or even only my mouse, the light spreads on walls, props, etc..

The 'circle' is above my crosshair on the first picture (its more noticeable when you move), on the first and second screenshots you can see the issue very clearly on the wall that has 3 vents on it. For the record, I did not have that issue with my Chris config.

Things I've tried: using different lighting/effects/shadows/particles modules, manually changing fog commands, using different dxlevels (81 is what I use, I tried 95 & 91 and still had the issue).
