if austria and silverstone a couple of years ago is anything to go by, a verstappen leclerc title fight will be nothing but fireworks

batemanI dont believe the result was scripted but I feel like over the past few races the FIA had "incentives" to add drama to the races, I can absolutely see Liberty Media having it done. I have no investment in either of the involved drivers but the stewarding inconsistency is just really bad for the integrity of the sport, Charlie would never.
also the brits in this thread are boiling lol
hard agree, liberty whisper in masis ear cause they need their tv ratings and it really harms the credibility of f1 as a sport.
im mostly angry at the stewards. i dont like the way max drives, i dont think its healthy for the sport to have people drive as he does, but im mostly angry at michael masi for his fucking terrible decision making, that has been terrible all season
moralexeiMrSmithers96is there any precedent for only allowing some cars to overtake? pretty sure there isnt
but ya know f1 loves its drama
No there isn’t this will go to court cases now and the FIA is going to have to come up with some sort of explanation for why they’ve done that. By letter of the law (Afaik) they aren’t allowed to do that. This isn’t the ending we deserved as fans, and I guess this isn’t over
not to mention having a huge ass truck on the track while cars were circulating still, and we all know how that one can go

honestly whod be a steward
absolute shit job and everyone hates you whatever you do
well this just got very spicy indeed

how else do you pass?
by actually being ahead when you get to the corner, or by leaving a cars width so everyone can stay on the track and then everyone can race fairly
I dont think people are complaining about lewis leaving the track but the fact that the stewards said he gave back the time gained when he really didnt
this is fair he kinda took the piss
like, max lunges from so far back and doesnt even slightly make the corner
he also has one wheel on the track and people are expecting lewis to stay on the track?
its ridiculous
ArieMoermanS4mskiCan anyone explain to me why Verstappen got a penalty and Hamilton didn't for going into the back into him? I'm very confused right nowVerstappen was instructed to let Hamilton overtake for some reason. Because he didnt, he got 5 sec penalty. This had nothing to do with the contact they hd
But he did and got the penalty.
he did drive off after the contact when he tried the first time, and then it was a few laps before the fia gave the penalty. he then gave the place back just after he was given the penalty but you cant really retract it at that point. his team said over radio that he didnt need to give it back after the penalty
thats one of the most dramatic races ive ever seen in f1
but like, fuck me is it so hard to be on the same piece of track and get round corners so we can watch the 2 best race car drivers race their cars against each other
there was 2 or 3 racing laps in the f2 race earlier, after delays for track repairs and then 2 crashes that both caused lengthy red flags. not promising signs
real odd race for tyres. i dont think ive ever seen a situation where slick inters were better than slicks and certainly not for that long. crazy how long the track stayed basically the same level of wet.
after everything that happened this weekend how has this ended hamilton verstappen 1-2
my heart is in my fucking mouth right now jesus.
this was already a classic before now
the takeaway seems to be that if youre on the inside of the first part of a corner then you can do whatever the fuck you want.
i dont get it, apart from bahrain these two havent actually raced each other for more than a corner this year
