#1 biscottiHUD in Customization

Current version: v. 1.94 (August 7th, 2022)

So I released my HUD on huds.tf a while ago, but I figured I might as well make a thread here. This way I can take more feedback as well.

It's designed around using cl_hud_minmode 1, but there's also a design for minmode 0 that has larger HUD elements.

It has different scoreboards that fit 12, 18, 24, and 32 players. Currently there's no alternate scoreboard design but that's a thing I'd like to add sometime in the future.

The HUD has several customization options that you can read more about in the readme. The process of enabling them can seem a bit finicky at first. But added a bunch of .bat file to automate it. Just double click them and it will copy the files automatically.

There's also an incognito mode for streamers (inspired by budhud) that disables all names on the HUD so people can't follow or harass you as easily.

By the way, I'm usually very good about updating the HUD quickly to keep it compatible with the latest version of the game, so you don't have to roll stock HUD for days after large updates :D

YoshiBut I have to give you credit for that.

I got mine by modifying e.v.e HUD so I can't even take full credit :)
Also, I really like how you put a black filter on the health meter in spectator. That's a really cool technique that I hadn't at all considered.

Jutzi13The config works well for me but when I record demos with P-REC and send them to a friend who wants to record them with lawena, the demos just crash after a few seconds. Is there a known fix for this?

For me, if you record them without AA but try to play them back with AA, none of the characters will move. I don't know what causes a straight-up crash, but to be sure, try to make your friend use your graphic settings to see if that helps. If it helps, try again with his settings but with

mat_aaquality 0

For me, it's only that AA setting that messes with demos. I record with maxframes and then render with maxquality (with mat_aaquality 0). Good luck.

pazerMedico_di_BiscottiWhy was mat_antialias changed to 1? Does it not improve FPS anymore, or is it to stop the screen from lagging out when changing? 'Cus the latter part is fixed by putting +mat_antialias 0 in launch options.
0 is not a valid value for mat_antialias. The minimum value for it is 1, and if you set it to 0 it'll just be clamped by the game to 1. The same is true for mat_forceaniso.

But the game still recognizes it as a setting and switching between 0 and 1 also causes the game to freeze up while applying the change. I haven't tested if it actually changes, but the freeze is there and it'll say that the value was changed to 0.

I also said in the last post that my game doesn't draw the fire overlay, anyone else? I hadn't noticed people had responded when I edited more stuff in my post.

Also, when execing maxframes for high quality:

Unknown command "mat_shadowstate"
Unknown command "mat_disable_d3d9ex"
Unknown command "cl_forcepreload"
-

and when executing cinematic:

Unknown command "cl_forcepreload"
Unknown command "cl_loadondemand_default"
-

I know that loadondemand was removed from maxframes as well, just pointing out that it's still in cinematic.

What is d3d9ex? Is the command unknown because I haven't enabled it in a launch option or something. And how does dxlevel 90 compare FPS-wise to dxlevel 95 and 98?

Also, whatever makes the cloaking refraction look real funky is extremely distracting.

This is a slightly unrelated issue, but does anyone else's demos break when viewing them in mat_aaquality above 0 if they were recorded without AA? So I leave it out of the cinematic config. mat_antialias works fine, though.

My game also doesn't draw the fire overlay anymore. Any thoughts?

hooli#140 when putting cvars in your launch options you have to use + instead of -, ex -novid +mat_antialias 0

Thank you so much :)

I kinda knew that but I looked up the launch options on the valve software website and it said -mat_antialias. But I did as you said and it works beutifully now :)

ComangliaI'm going to be honest here. I have absolutely no idea what command did this.

I did some testing, which I should have done beforehand. It's when you change the resolution, it causes the backpack to glitch out. That thing where it's glitched/transparent on the first try, then you go back to main menu, and from then on the backpack works fine. (I'm not the only one with this issue, right?)

So now the question is: what command causes the resolution reload itself?
This might be an unavoidable side-effect but it's still kind of annoying.

EDIT: it might be mat_antialias. I play without AA anyway (mat_aaquality 0), so I'll test if it stops if I remove it from the config. IT WORKED!

EDIT2: More testing... It turns out, mat_aaquality 0 doesn't disable AA altogether. I only assumed that it did because AA breaks my demo playback, and with mat_aaquality 0 it doesn't. It also turns out that mat_aaquality didn't seem to change my FPS at all. Also, putting -mat_antialias 0 in launch options also does nothing. It keeps resetting it to 2 (my systems recommended setting).
Damn.

Does anyone know what it is in Max FPS for High Quality PCs that changes the mouseover panel when hovering over items in the backpack? My HUD is set up to remove the white rounded border, but using Max FPS makes the panel transparent and brings back the border.

This is what I'm talking about.
There was another HUD related issue where on particular button wouldn't highlight when moused over, but that fixes itself with hud_reloadscheme. This backpack issue does not.

So I have an update to the sky-box issue I was having with the Cinematic config. Original comment here. Also, it stopped crashing but was always the purple checkerboard.

Turns out the culprit was mat_use_compressed_hdr_textures 0. After doing some testing, setting it to 1 caused the skybox to start rendering again after restarting the game. You might wanna look into that. I can't have been the only one having that issue.
It should be fixed now, although I am sad that no-one here even tried to help.
Still, keep up the good work!

EDIT: while trying to fix this, I also used r_skybox 0 which stopped drawing the sky-box altogether. This caused texture bleeding (right??) but with the trail fading away so it looked like you were in a shadow-world or something. It looked cool as hell!

edyFigure I'd ask here instead of making a thread for it. What's the console command for tf2s in-game audio? I know it's somewhere in my config because my audio resets each time I start up tf2 or exec autoexec. I couldn't find what the command might be by googling it and I can't find what it might be in my config so I have no idea.

I think what you're looking for is "volume". How on Earth that didn't show up when googling is beyond me :D

So I'm trying to use the Cinematic config but it keeps crashing the game. (The normal maxfps configs don't do this). I have a quad-core and normally have no trouble running the game. It CAN load up Suijin and it looks beautiful, but when I try to load some of the larger, older maps, like Badwater or Upward, it can't apply a shader to the skybox and crashes.
It happens so quickly that I can't read it, but it goes like this:
EDIT:

I got off my lazy ass and screened dumped it.

What's interesting is that I can load up Upward and Badwater AFTER I've already been on Suijin, but then it can'tr render the skybox and I get the purple checkerboard texture. I assume it's because Suijin uses a different skybox, but what is the command for the shader on the skybox, and how do I turn it down?
