#9 Lawena issues in Off Topic

bump, still didn't manage to solve it...

Tried changing cfg folder properties, redownloading lawena, even input the commands through the console, but it still doesn't work and still shows the hitsound / chat

kirbyMake the demo files "read only". For some reason, hitsounds, configs and whatnot will sometimes transfer through demos and sometimes bypass Lawena's disable options.

Tried this, didn't work :(

#31 Jump Fortress 2 | A TF2 Jump Movie in TF2 General Discussion

The best way I can describe this movie is "unconventional", it's really what describes it best for me, and like most unconventional things, at first it feels a little strange, but then it might really grow on you to something beautiful, and while I'm sure it probably is the latter, I think I need a couple more frag/jump movies to incorporate this style to really grow used to it, it's just so unusual to see a movie with this kind of story/atmosphere around it that I'm not so sure about it.

From 4:32 to 4:42 the music, the jump itself and the whole atmosphere created by the synch between both was perfectly executed and it was probably my favorite part of the whole video.

Also, didn't watch it live on stream because I'm from EU and was asleep at that time, but really cool from you to allow it to premier on such a big stream, win + win situation for sure.

Keep up the good work! The jump community is amazing! :D

#48 MGE 2.0 release in TF2 General Discussion
CpriceThe reasoning for dueling_v1 was because I wanted a map that showcased MGE 2.0's new features. Currently training_v8 is full, and no new arenas can be added because of a brush limit in the source engine, so the only way I could have a map with ultiduo/spireking/mutliple bball arenas was to have JSTN make a new map. I understand the confusion of having multiple maps, but because of the brush limit it was the only to do it.

Sounds good, I have no problems with the 2 maps and I have already heard before v8 was full, nothing wrong about that, I think it has enought arenas already, I just think some of them could use a little more polishing, so we could near a final v8 release, most of mge servers in europe are still running v7 because of this.

CpriceAlso V8 is still under active development, JSTN has just been very busy lately, and I've been forcing him to work on dueling_v1 instead of v8, so you can blame me for any bugs not being fixed. I believe hes said multiple times he didn't change anything on spire, but if you want to elaborate more specifically on what/where the bugs are I'm sure that would help him get those fixed.

Honestly it seems to be a bit more buggy than on v7, also, there are also some messed up spawns where you get stuck for a few miliseconds after you respawn.

CpriceThe removal of advanced stats/accuracy was actually langes request/doing, I may try to find a better way to implement them, but right now unless lange changes his mind they aren't comming back, sorry :/

Alright, sounds good. Would be great if it could be implemented without hurting performance that much.

CpriceBasically every arena can be played 2v2 or turned into a koth map.

Even on the v8 map? And how would you choose to do that, is it only the server admin that controls that or the players? or am I getting something wrong and you can only play 2v2 on the new duels map.

Btw, no more 1vs1 bball? I love bball and I think 2v2 is great but 1vs1 was great practice and fun as well.

#46 MGE 2.0 release in TF2 General Discussion

Could you please elucidate me on some things...

So who's developing this mod atm? Lange or cprice?

Also, there are 2 different map types now right? The v8 and the duels maps with these new arenas?

Honestly I don't know who's working on v8 if it's lange, cprice, Jstn but I think that should be your priority right now to release a final version of that, not adding a new map with 2 v 2 arenas. Just yesterday I played on a server with v8, it was cool but still had a lot of edge or stuck bugs, particularly on spire where I noticed most.

Also, I know you removed the advanced stats but that was actually useful for checking if you're improving or how you're doing with your different weapons and improve on that. Was also good for mge tournaments casts where casters had that information available to them. I'm all for improved performance, just saying it was a good feature.

Other than the stats removal and the !top5 command what's new in the mod (and not the maps itself)?

Other than that, great work!

#50 Lange needs headphones in TF2 General Discussion

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-280-Pro-Headphones/dp/B000065BPB
Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, right on budget

I can personally recommend them as I have one pair, it was the first really good pair of headphones I bought in my life, keep in mind I bought them already second handed and even then they have rocked for the last 1+ year

They block outside sound amazingly good, mine are not 100% condition since the ear pads wore out and the "plastic-leather" cover is tearing apart, still they block sound really well and are awesome for music, whether it is dubstep, rock, rap, even jazz, the lows, mids and highs are pretty even. I also play tf2 with them and can't complain.

#17 Tip of the Hats feedback in TF2 General Discussion

Just want to add as well that the way the whole donation scheme was set up really boosted donation counts in my view, even if you didn't donate exclusivly for the kids you still had the incentive of trying your luck for some items, or even play around with the stream widget that showed the text you wanted. It definitly gave space for some "creativity" :D and a much bigger donation influx in my opinion.

Props to everyone who donated the items for the raffles and auctions.

flippersok, first thing, are you even using lawena properly, when launching does your hud tab display: None (kill notices), when launching game are the following settings checked off:

1. disable combat text
2. disable hit sounds
3. disable voice chat

Absolutly, I triple checked everything, I'm not the kind of person that skips stuff, I learned the read-me, the faq, forums and stuff and couldn't figure out my problem.

Everything is checked and I made sure to save more than once.

Tf2 is loading with the default HUD and kill notices only, the only problem is that it's not disabling hitsounds and chat properly, and now I can't do it inside the game either through the commands.

#1 Tip of the Hats feedback in TF2 General Discussion

Not sure this should be in this section but I feel it would be good to leave some feedback on this event...

Overall it was a great idea, very well executed. The donation drive was really sucessful and the platform it was run on worked wonders in my opinion, the stream widget for the donations was also very well thought.

I feel there is a huge missed oportunity if we don't try these kind of events more often, for example for i49 (and altought we already reached half the money) there could be some events like this.
It was great fun all around, loved the variety of activities, from highlander showmatch to prophunt, passing through dodgeball and jump (which was one of the most interesting events imo) without loosing any entertainment value is really commendable and I congratulate your hard and high quality work.

I'm just disappointed that I missed the first day (saturday) because I was completly oblivious this event was taking place, hopefully I will have the time to go through vods later.

Also working together with famous tf2 youtubers is such a big opportunity and so underused, I'm pretty sure star played a big role on this even if it was just bringing the numbers to the stream.

I think it is also definitly worthy of a highlight video from all the great moments that were too many to count during the weekend.

10/10 would donate again and take admirable to a nice potato dinner for the balls(and lack of food) he now has.

#1 Lawena issues in Off Topic

Hey there,

I just started using lawena today and I'm having some issues.

It isn't disabling the hitsounds and chat text properly, I have to do it in game through the console and even then I can only disable the hitsounds, the chat text still stays on, any help on this?

I tried manually editing lawena configs to include the commands but it still won't work, when viewing the demos I still hear the hitsounds and can see the chat

#11 TF2 clips. Solution to huge .avi files? in Off Topic
crespiThe answer to your problems is: P N G S

Use srcdemo2, it makes better quality movies and png's are smaller file sizes.

tried srcdemo, for some reason didnt work for me, it didnt even open the program, maybe because of windows 8?

jp_Do you absolutely need an intermediate format?

Doesn't your video editor support importing the image sequence? You could save time by skipping the step... You shouldn't need to move the images files on the disk if you're properly using recording tools like lawenarecordingtool and srcdemo2

Also, you shouldn't use lossy codecs (like h264/xvid) as an intermediate format because you'll end up with compression artifacts before the final encode. Look for encoders with "lossless" in the name.

I guess I can import directly the image sequence into after effects, won't that be much more complicated to work around tho instead of a single file?
