#60 pick/ban system in TF2 General Discussion
bastidyou know why the widowmaker is banned?

...you're kidding right?

How about a rundown:

1shot per 30 Metal. So right out of the gate, you have 6 shots. Starting right here it's now currently a shotgun, but you need to loot metal to reload. However, you regen 1 metal per 1 damage dealt, or so it appears after about 5 minutes of testing.

So, in order to completely regen your shot, you need to do 30 damage per shot. At close range you deal about 9 damage per pellt, this means you need to hit 3/10 pellets fired to regen your metal. So at close range, as long as you hit ~30% of your shots. You have infinite ammo.

At medium range, this lowers to around 6 damage/pellet. So you need to hit 5/10 pellets. This means as long as you hit half your shots, you have infinite ammo.

Now, people don't all completely suck at this game, and can actually hit their shots. So as long as they aren't chipping you for 3 damage at long range, widowmaker will effectively give you infinite ammo without the need of reloading. Even the random scrub can hit a few shots, get all their ammo back and get 7-9 loaded shots, before considering ammo packs, and before considering looting 100/kill.

Now: compare it to the shotgun. Why in the hell wouldn't this be banned?

#1 Low/Mid Open - Scout/Roamer - Kairu LFT in Recruitment (looking for team)

Hey all,

I'm probably more known for jumping than anything, but I've been playing highlander for a while now, and have decided I want to start playing 6s as well. As of right now, I'm currently backing up for a Plat HL team, so scheduling means I'm available most days except when needed otherwise.

I have around 5 seasons experience in HL, and two 6s seasons of UGC Steel (Screwing around with friends, constant offclassing, etc, nothing serious). I'd consider myself having adequate knowledge and gamesense, and good enough DM to hold my own. I'd consider myself better at roamer, but people have told me they prefer my scout, and ability to offclass.

If you've got any other questions for me, or want to talk to me about a tryout or anything, add me here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Kairu927

smoboWhat actually ends up happening is that both captains just pick as many plat players as possible and everyone looks the other way as long as nobody is fatkidded too many times in a row.

And then everybody RTV's to viaduct for the 30th time that day.

#3 Bball Tournament (Nov. 20th-Dec. 20th) in TF2 General Discussion

What's the plan for respawn timers, and intel? MGE style instant respawn and tiny ass intel? Or plugin style 2s respawn and larger normal intel?

Tentatively LFT

KaeyelImo, I believe the c-tap jumps should be later on in the course. Some of the later ones I could do successfully repeatedly, but these c-tap jumps I could only get once out of three million tries. I had to noclip the dropdown jump and turbine jumps :\

Didn't have to ctap a single jump in the map.

Actually touching the floor: speedshot.

Not touching the floor, usually off of a lone platform (like on your gully 2nd jump): skipping.

Skip-jump isn't really a thing, you're using the term interchangeably for different techniques.

The snakewater 'skip-jump' is more practical to land and rocket jump to window as to not lose so much HP.
The badlands 'skip-jump' is much better with a pogo (or skip, if you prefer), as to not lose so much HP and still achieve the exact same jump.

Really cool map though, really like the transitions.

tooth easy scores.

Maybe if you're awful and don't know how to aim upwards. Ceiling in MGE and past maps is too damn low to do anything other than a straight line, which is both dumb to do, and boring. Also removes a bunch of fun capping routes. All for what? Stopping some idiot from trying to jump up off the fence into an easily airshot position?

frkncieling is fine

No.

Just copy ctf_ballin_sky a bunch and the plugin is all you'll need made.

EnnayHonestly, the only thing that bugs me about competitive bball is jump shottying. I know it is a part of the game but it really bugs the shit out of me. It's the only thing I really was annoyed at during the Tip of the Hats stream when I played, but I guess it doesn't really matter. Just stating my opinion. There is also no way to prevent this cept banning shotty which I do not approve of.

#25 tf2 bhopping in TF2 General Discussion

Check uncrouched bounces. 99% sure that is the phenomenon that lets you bhop. You have to fall those exact number of units from your peak, and you must hit your jump frame perfectly. Because it's accurate down to the unit/tick it's near impossible to consistently do them, will vary with fps, and will vary with server tickrate.

This is mostly a jumping-related thing in terms of consistency (jumps can be designed with exact unit falls), but I suppose interesting to note if people are willing to decompile and check their maps for consistent falling distances.

Note: I believe a standard jump is 50 units, but someone may have to correct me on that.

#102 New iT! Server - What do you people want? in TF2 General Discussion

Keep in mind ultiduo requires you to be capturing the point. That may not be possible in tf2. Even though MGE can do it, only one arena (bball) requires any objective.

Throwing my opinion on an Ultiduo 4man server. Most everything else is done to death.
