Hot take: There is no good case for ever locking any thread at all.
Even long-dead threads often have good reasons to be necrod (map gets its first update in a year, oldass tech support thread has someone else with the same problem, etc)
If it's a shitpost thread, it can be moved to the dumpster for other shitposters, instead of blocking all replies.
If it's actual harassment or something dangerous, it should just be deleted instead of staying up for others to see it. (and no, complaining about admin decisions is not harassment)

iirc the list of banned players includes all the mirrored bans from esea/etf2l/etc, so the number is inflated by a lot of people who had never played rgl to begin with

though I have heard that rgl's 6s admins are less consistent/responsive/generally reasonable than their highlander admins (which kind of makes sense because all of their admins are highlander players)

I had this problem. I fixed it by changing the Negative LOD Bias setting to Clamp in the Nvidia control panel.

Can still hit airshots. Makes amusing threads. His experience list says mid-open, but he had better DM than that for ages but never found the right team. Could probably shred through whatever lower div if given a chance.

I had a similar problem when I reinstalled a few weeks ago. I noticed that it only happened when I had discord open, and I (hopefully) fixed it by disabling discord's hardware acceleration:

if you own the roster, then you are still the team leader
ask each of your other teammates individually in DMs about cutting him, and if they all agree then give him the snip
if their opinions are mixed then you have to decide for yourself if you want to risk the fallout from cutting him
if they all prefer playing with him then it's probably time for you to find a new team

This community's use of the terms "whitelist/blacklist" to describe allowed weapons raises a cause for concern as to potential perceived discrimination within the TF2 community.

Given the troubled history of exclusion of blacks from public and private institutions in the US, using "blacklist" to describe excluded weapons could lead to potential players getting turned off from the idea of joining this game's community. Competitive TF2's falling player numbers are a clear indication that we need to change our culture to be more diverse and inclusive of others.

Many successful companies, including Microsoft (https://github.com/dotnet/roslyn/pull/3507#issue-88522819), have already taken steps toward replacing outdated and racist terminology for their ignorelists. It is time for TFTV to follow their lead and stop being on the wrong side of history.
