#5 Match Listing Service in TF2 General Discussion
trogCan you add the option for a team to provide a server? That way teams can run stats and pregame dm plugins and also have access to stv downloads.

Consider it done.

#31 IGL - Why haven't you signed up? in TF2 General Discussion

Great! That's very good feedback, Cprice.

In regards to high caliber teams not joining - I can understand this early in the game. There currently only is one Tier for both our Highlander and 6v6 ladders, but the more teams join in, the more naturally they will shift to the right tier - and at that point it becomes a lot easier for IM teams to compete with each other.

I've also used IRC for a long time (haven't we all) and we built the online platform because it actually is much simpler to set up a time to play. It's obvious to us that the LIVE option will add a lot of value to the platform and I digress, setting up a time for a scrim makes no sense indeed (thus a LIVE option). My question becomes, are you only interested in a live option, or would you simply like to have it ADDED on top of the hourly queues?

Remember, IGL is an Amateur league. Our focus is on bringing MORE people into the game you love and we simply cannot do that unless you guys make the first step. Simply signing up and showing your support will drive more people to join.

Prizing will always attract people - but this is not the route we're interested in taking for attracting people as it sends the wrong message for our positioning (it contains implications that would push away amateurs, thereby defeating the purpose of the league). There will most absolutely be prizing for high tiers and sponsored events/tournaments/playoffs, but we're still at the early stage and we can't move forward unless there is some sort of support from our TF2 community. Hopefully that makes sense.

Our servers grab a bunch of information (stats/logs included) and at the moment it's simply a matter of visualizing the stats properly on the site. Unfortunately, we're capped on resources and only have 24 hours in the day. We want to get our event tech out prior to continuing the polish on ladders - but it's definitely on the way.

As a complementary note to the 404 page - it doesn't exist yet on the live website, but the match results page is being released next code push we're doing (every Monday).

Thanks for your feedback!

http://www.playigl.com/ladder/standings/1/Team+Fortress+2/

16 full teams on 6v6
20 full teams on Highlander

Only 6 matches played!

What's missing? We're thinking of adding a "Live" option to the matchmaker to allow people to join in on matches/pugs/scrimmages taking place at that time. What else would facilitate the rev up of these ladders?

PS. The events platform is about to be released (it's freakishly awesome) and the league technology is being upgraded for a release sometime in the next 90 days.

#35 IGL TF2 Ladder League in TF2 General Discussion
manaSideshowI'd be wary of starting with a clean slate for TF2 though as you have no experienced anti-cheat team or client do you? Just seems like a bit of an invitation to hackers who've already been caught in other leagues.Honestly, it's only fair to assume people are clean, especially if they've already been caught. Granted, yes, cheating again is a very real possibility, but the circumstance should let it speak for itself (and people should be given a second chance). Not to mention that relying on another league's ban list would just be a bit odd of them. I know ETF2L does great work in AC, but I'm pretty sure IGL would rather develop their own methodology.

But who knows. I'm not IGL.

Sums it up pretty well. We're concentrating on building the absolute best scrimming/ladder/matchmaking platform before dealing with anything else. The value we produce comes from having a central place for competing in leagues, ladders, regular scrimmages, team practices and sponsored events. Anti-cheat tech is interesting but only really applies to a certain type of game. It would be counter-intuitive for our vision to concentrate on a single engine (Source in this case) rather than producing a universal platform for any game.

Our 6v6 and Highlander ladders are now open. This is the best time to start giving feedback on how you'd like it to evolve. We won't be listening to anyone else than the TF2 community for our TF2 ops, so you guys have first dibs on feedback!

Have a great one,

E

IGLAbsolutefraacIf you confirm that etf2l bans for OpenPlugin VAC won't be mirrored, I can have 25 teams signed up within a couple of weeks.Sounds like extortion :P

I'll let our TF2 admins determine this... I'm pretty sure we'll be starting with a relatively clean ban list.

I can confirm this. Our platform works differently from pretty much every other league website that has ever been around. We'll be running a clean slate for Team Fortress 2, so don't delay. :]

IGLAbsoluteThanks for the feedback all!

We'll look into the possibility of supporting multiple teams per game, although this does go against our currently policy, it's something we will consider.

The 10 user roster limit is just a visual thing - there's no true limit.

We plan on creating an "Organization" level on top of teams to allow larger gaming organizations to handle multiple rosters for each game they play, instead of having to create a whole new team per game. You'd be selecting a [insert game here] roster for your competitive needs.

This is a feature that's on our roadmap. Just a matter of time and resources. Thank you for your support!

#37 IGL? in TF2 General Discussion
Nin2246If possible, if one is rank #1 on ladder could the team get free entry to the paid league? It would give some great attention to actually be rank #1 and would promote the best teams to be in the league for more entertaining matches.

A ladder for open, IM, and invite... Maybe split up some more or how ever you want it.

Yes. Absolutely.

The ladders naturally divide based on the amounts of teams involved in the game. If there are only 20 teams playing, you will only see one tier. 500-team ladders will see tremendous value in the tiered ladder approach.

You get to play with people your skill level, whenever you want, with your team or with friends, within the context of a bigger purpose than just pubbing. And because it's a large-scale amateur league, the pro's will play with the pro's and the amateurs will play with the amateurs. The platform dynamically adjusts.
