SpaceCadetbest goal of the year so far?

considering we're like 4 days into the season i'd say so, and im sure it will be discussed at the end of the season when the networks put out their top 50 lists or whatever

beauty pass... shame it had to put the canucks into OT...

GritomaHowever, there's a solid 40% chance that I'll be hired in the near future to beat report for the Kraken, so I may be (forcibly) changing teams in the near future.

huge if true. congrats.

#10 Self-improvement thread in TF2 General Discussion

i wanted to post last week but i was busy studying and forgot (so sorry for the bump)

i just wanna share the things i have improved on in the past few years that i have noticed (both tf2 and non-tf2 related)

#1 is probably talking to girls. just in general i've become a lot more comfortable with casually throwing out compliments with girls im interested in and just seeing where it gets me, instead of obsessing over how im gonna ask her out and what shes gonna think of me and aaaaaaaaa. the closest ive ever been to a relationship was pretty recent and it all started when i decided to tell one of my friends from work, who i wasnt even originally interested in, that she was cute (didnt end up working out but thats neither here nor there).

still on the topic of girls i've gotten over the fear of texting first and trying to make plans. i used to fear for my life to even send one text and would instead just watch any progress i've made wash away because my silence gets taken as a lack of interest. so that's neat too that ive improved there.

#2 is TF2 related, but also just generally personality related. around 3 years ago I used to let what people thought about me dictate how i thought about myself (this was usually related to posts on my LFT threads gassing me up, inflating my ego).

one of the most clear images of this in my mind was in esea season 29. 2 [unnamed] invite players were streaming my match live thru the STV and one of them says "damn grape juice is way too good to be on a 7-9 team" and the other responds "are you sure? i really dont think he's very good" (fun fact, looking back, the second player was 100% correct). unfortunately, while watching the vod, i let the first player's comments go to my head and got annoyed that the second player Completely Ignored My Past Displays Of Talent.

I didn't really start to think about this until about 8 months later when RGL 6s first started. I made my goal simply to finish the season and see where i stood in advanced. the team died, shoutouts to The Bag, and after an invite tryout gone horribly wrong for an o5 revival team, I finally felt confident in where i stood and in my abilities as a player, and it was based on MY feelings and MY experience playing the game over the past couple months. not based on some random commenters on my LFT threads who looked at my frag videos and went "Wow This Guy Has Good DM and Is My Friend So +Rep :)"

And since that revelation I've let myself become confident in my abilities in other aspects of my life (such as work) based on my perception and assessment of my performance, rather than relying on the kind words of others to lift me up, or letting gossip behind my back pull me down.

good luck to everyone else who posted on your improvement that you're trying to reach, and i personally invite anyone else who wants to share their self improvement progress in this thread to do so as well.
