#39 Competitive Matchmaking Discussion in TF2 General Discussion

non-cp didn't fit because valve never partook in 6s balance. Now they do. They want to make a version of 6s that's more inviting to new players, namely jason.gonzalez2003 who just really really wants to play pyro to mid.

You guys need to understand that whether or not community 6s is the best current version of the format, which right now it is, Valve is looking more long-term than that. I don't think they're forcing turbine/payload because they "think it works". They're doing it because that's how you get new players to try it. They are probably fully aware of the flaws, maybe they're considering changing the formats from the ground level to work, or maybe they're just starting broad before they narrow down. Either way, I think we have to accept that compromise if you want valve support. Because we know 100% that they are not interested in taking the scene and implementing it as is, they are going to push for change.

#62 Ster talks about the TF2 casual and comp community in TF2 General Discussion
indecencythats actually not true at all what he said about youtubers, we (me and dippidy) played with lazypurple and all of us on the team and alotta people outside of it said he was actually really cool and surprised how good he was at scout for being a pubbee youtuber and actually just grinded mge but he just suddenly went dark and stopped playing

You can't just conclude something because of a single example though. I mean I agree it is different today because the community has developed but this doesn't really have anything to do with what he was saying, as it refers to half a decade ago.

#34 Ster talks about the TF2 casual and comp community in TF2 General Discussion
glassi've never gotten the vibe that the youtuber side of the tf2 community cared to promote comp tf2 very much. what's the referring to?

edit: how does anyone play or spectate overwatch without getting a seizure

I believe this was based on that at the time (Several years ago), it was extremely rare for tf2 youtubers to have an extensive understanding of competitive, thus, star felt the competitive community alienated him and other applicable channels if only because their status made them appear less reputable in the scene.

While i've had a good experience overall with the competitive community, I think there is actual merit to this claim. I have seen people relentlessly talk shit about dane, muselk, and even myself if/whenever an opinion didn't like up or something said was incorrect. I am certain several people even here still view someone like dane as uninformed (even though his opinions have changed a lot since then). A lot of my content from one year ago was almost scientifically engineered point-by-point to prove that I wasn't just the pubshitting roster rider I had seen multiple people in the competitive community namecall me as.

sigafooDo you think the other communities in tf2 (casual/highlander) view sixes overall as a friendly, warm, welcoming community?

Do you think other communities in tf2 (casual/highlander) view tf.tv as a positive place to have a discussion?

The problem is not only 'the sixes community'. He was referring to the entire competitive spectrum, which is divided away from TF2 as a whole. That means HL, that means 6s, and that means 7s too. 6s is however a much tighter knit circle, and therefore gives the most counterforce if you don't align with every opinion.

#24 best april fools joke of all time in TF2 General Discussion

Identical situation to when I streamed TF2. Servers vehemently targeted, and then IP DDOSed when I worked around it.

I'll repeat myself again. This is extremely important for valve to deal with. This is more than just bullying niche streamers out of playing. Entire LANs and major influencers are being shut down and making the game look like a fucking joke. This is not a minor issue to be pushed to the bottom of the list. You will not become an esport if nobody can spectate your fucking game.

What happens when you get comp working, valve? If DDOSing is still at large (it still will be), thousands of people will tune in to see your servers keeling over and dying. That is not the first impression we want to make. Fix this now.

I hope valve is doing everything they can, because this is just as much their problem as it is ours now.

#3 tf2 crashing after 3/4 map loads in TF2 General Discussion

Do you have a custom hud? mine was causing seemingly random crashes for some reason until I changed it, esp when changing servers.

TuneSquad (did manage to get Monstars though!!)

Star Corps Academy (Weezer reference)

Squirtle Squad (probably overdone anyways)

Stardust Crusaders (probably overdone anyways)

i have also tried to make team names a link to my youtube but nobody has let me yet.

#7 Privacy/Streamer HUD? in Customization

it seems budhud has a streamer mode, though it breaks some stuff for me for some reason.

WoolenSleeveleti managed to modify my hud in an evening, theres like 8 files you need to mess around with and set visible to 0 or ypos to 4000

care to share a link or did you just mean it's a small task to do myself? I'm familiar with hud editing but was hoping to find a pre-existing working one if it existed.

#1 Privacy/Streamer HUD? in Customization

I'm trying to locate an older 'privacy' hud, which removes all player names from the game. IIRC star_ used it ~3 years ago. Because of the constant stream DDOSer's I figure it may help make things harder for them to target the server. Does anybody know where to find it?
