renxzenTheFragileyou delayed your inevitable death by 12 seconds (and likely much longer if the enemy team allowed it).
I think he was making the huge distraction for his friend to cap last, and as you can see it was working and it could have worked if his scout would started to cap instead of rushing the demo and his soldier instead of caping would have rushed the demo. Unfortunately it didn't worked out in the end, but better try it than not in this type of scenarios where you see how your push to last failed horribly.
