The i5 has way way better single threaded performance than ANY AMD processor. Hell, even the i3 blows the FX out of the water in single threaded performance, and the Pentium BEATS it. TF2 itself only uses 2 cores so he would get better performance in TF2. The i5 is also more than capable of streaming with one core, also intel i5s have hyperthreading which FX processors dont have.

If he ever decides to upgrade his processor(when i7 haswells drop in price) he will be able to overclock it, its also only about 40$ more. For future proofing it works well.

Oh, and FX processors are HOT HOT HOT and eat up a good amount more wattage than Intels. He would need to get a non stock cooler if he jist wanted it to stay below 70 idle.

This isn't a scrim, when you play pugs you have 0 chemistry built with the other players, there is so much less coordination compared to playing with a team, that running anything will work, including sniper. It's sad that it came to this, because when he played against the few actually good players in tf2mix, I'm sure his team got their shit stomped and he refused to switch to scout(not that he could do anything on the class) for his team.

Sniper makes the game less fun for everyone but the sniper, if it works in scrims then go for it, but only do them in scrims and matches, NOT pugs. The game shouldn't revolve around 1 player.

If that monitor is brand new I'd suggest returning it if possible. It has a lot of input lag and is limited to 120 while the ASUS VG248QE goes up to 144hz and supports lightboost.

Just download the demo, the novelty of it wears off quick.
