#6 The Soldier Backpacks in TF2 General Discussion

Both the Backup and Conq are now overpowered. Good job Valve. Prior to the christmas update, they were fine.

#43 So uh, Diamondback Opinions? in TF2 General Discussion

It needs to be banned.

Immediately.

Going spy should be a risky move, because even if you pick say a roamer or scout, you are still on even terms, 5 v 5 with your team having a useless (likely dead) player. Now if you pick off a scout or roamer, you are 6 v 5 and your sixth man has a crit to kill med/demo/scout/soldier, whichever is weak.

#58 Community CEVO Vote in TF2 General Discussion

What do you think they expect? Everyone to want to pay $25 along with ESEA's prices to play in a second league? Remember that most of us are not willing to ditch ESEA for a brand new league with no certainty?

I put $15 because I would be willing to spend $15 this season. If, in a couple seasons, CEVO is working out, has attracted some top teams, and is actively planning a LAN, and they want to raise it to $25, that's fine, but I'm not willing to pay ESEA premium + ESEA fee + $25 for a new, experimental league. Sorry if that ruffles feathers.

SaberBurnDLI have to say that I am feeling a bit better about CEVO right now. I mean, I don't know if I see it as a dominant league, but I'm definitely interested in playing it alongside ESEAreally, why not play? it's not like it's gonna be much more time dedication, plus it's probably better practice for you too

"but I'm definitely interested in playing it alongside ESEA"
^^^
i.e. playing both

NahanniBurnDLThomas123Will the client work on Mac? (I fucking hate playing on mac but its all I got)This. I have a mac but play on a partition. Neither is amazing, but playing on the mac itself would run quite a bit better.

Also, how do we know you are not just blowing smoke? Do you have any proof you were looking into a LAN before we all had a heart attack and decided we did not like ESEA? How do we know CEVO is any difforent from ESEA, just looking to profit from the fact that we finally decided to leave ESEA? Is there any way CEVO can confirm to us that there will, actually, be a LAN within 3 seasons? A prize pot somewhat similar in scope and amount to ESEA?

Those are the importent questions to consider before gambling on any new league (not just CEVO).

You need to realize that you need to decide right now about ESEA based on ESEA and nothing else. We guarantee nothing as we cant (neither can any other potential league). CEVO's TF2 division is only as successful as the TF2 community gives support. This is a meeting to answer some and hopefully all of the community questions. Again, this is not a ESEA replacement. CEVO is a "community" option for you to make the league the community wants to see. This take time and cooperation people. See you at the meeting.

All I'm saying is that a lot has been promised on these forums (either by people in the know or regular posters who claim they can say ____ is happening) yet until now I had no idea CEVO had any interest in a paid league, a LAN, etc... I guess what I am asking is whether these proposed changes are things that CEVO was interested in before the community decided to ditch ESEA, or just stuff they are coming up with now with ESEA seemingly failing and when they see an oppertunity to bolster their numbers.

In all honesty, I am not for ditching ESEA right now, if CEVO is seriously interested in garnering a paid TF2 league, I believe we should be getting people to sign up for both CEVO and ESEA with ESEA being the main comp league, and see how far CEVO has come in another 2-3 seasons before making the switch.

Because my choice is to stick with ESEA right now. In the past two seasons (or however long the reinvented CEVO has been running?) I have not seen much from them. If CEVO is not serious about drawing in resources and creating all these great ideas. I do not want to be the one saying, "I told you so" when in two seasons time everyone is asking "Where is the LAN finals, where are the prizes, where are all of the ESEA-I teams?"

#177 ESEA and CEVO in TF2 General Discussion

All we have from CEVO is a bunch of promises on an online forum. Yes! We will get a LAN, or attach to a current local LAN! Or something! Prize pot? Let's charge $5 bucks! Yeah, we will get you dough!

That's a lot of blowing smoke and very little action. Everyone claims that we will manage to attract skill to CEVO, and yet invite player after invite player has made it clear they do not want to play in a reformed CEVO. My question is why, if CEVO had dreams of all this, why the fuck have they not tried to attach themselves to a local LAN before this season? Offer a paid league? They reformed what, a year ago (?) and have been slowly chugging along on their same path of free leagues and low participation ever since then. Now, suddenly the TF2 community has tossed a money bag into their lap, and they are biting. As pine-beetle has said, this is an untapped moneybag for them.

Yeah, ESEA sucks. Tell me what the fuck has changed? Also, tell me how CEVO will be any different? We never were in ESEA because we thought they were a lovely bunch of people, we always stuck with them because they offered us more then the other options. A LAN is a great way to increase our profile and grow the game, something that should not be thrown away easily. Having a CONSISTENT prize pot also gives new players something to dream of.

#103 AG Supports CEVO in Expanded League in TF2 General Discussion
seanbudliterally the only argument for ESEA at this point is LAN. And I don't think it's a very good argument anymore. We are brushing aside some really really shady shit from ESEA over and over. There is drama season after season involving the admins. The community sinks thousands to ship players to Dallas because there are no sponsors. We are playing a VERY steep price just to stay in ESEA because there is a LAN. But honestly, how many more times do we need to see plat's team vs. b4nny's team in the grand finals in Dallas?
The last http://blog.logmycalls.com/Portals/155740/images/6-call-tracking.jpg LAN's have resulted in a 1-2 finish grand final of Plat's team vs. b4nny's team. This season we had a potential competitor in watch this, and the team was killed before the season even started based on the league admin's decision. lpkane will state over and over how much he does not give a fuck about tf2, and the league admins who should care about tf2 are fucking up the invite division over and over with terrible judgement calls. The client causes us to reschedule far too many matches, and doesn't ever catch a hacker, and was apparently doing shit much shadier than any of us imagined until the bitcoin shit was exposed.

If you want a LAN that badly, we can always keep sending our squad(s) to i-series. I like the idea of a LAN final, but we need to fucking move on and maybe one day we can have a LAN that's actually worth going to.

LAN is how we actually get new players into TF2.

#63 Pros and Cons of NA League choices in TF2 General Discussion
hookyBurnDLWe have one choice. ESEA. Or we could close shop and end Comp. TF2.I'd prefer the latter.

And that's a perfectly fine choice. We just need to realize that the choice is not "Play ESEA or play this magical perfect new league that (insert name here) pulled out of his anus" but "Play ESEA or don't play comp TF2".
