#26 Please Ban The Crossbow in TF2 General Discussion
VeccWhen a roamer sacked in and did damage you could make a play off of damage alone, making the game more fast paced

now when you sack in as roamer and do damage it doesnt matter because the people you damaged will be bow'd

But rockets deal splash damage and arrows don't deal splash healing... I don't really see your point unless your team plays off your bomb really slow so the med gets a couple seconds to arrow people

To me, it seems like bows help deep players stay deep and keep aggressing/help flank players get quick heals fast so they are safe until their next kit pickup (allowing them to position more aggressively) moreso than they help a closed in, retreating team

Veccthe game slowed down BECAUSE of the crossbow

Really? I was under the impression it was stalematey before the crossbow was ever added but I wouldn't know, wasn't into comp then.

Do you feel this way because it circumvents critheals?

#19 Please Ban The Crossbow in TF2 General Discussion

Speaking as a (scrubby) med main, the crossbow is literally half of why medic is fun to play for me. If it got banned I'd seriously reconsider ever playing medic in pugs / comp just out of personal enjoyment. Not saying I know what's best for the meta or whatever, just saying that playing "w+m1 your team and don't ever die" isn't terribly engaging with such a minimal execution element.

Also, it seems to me that the bow opens up more opportunities for dynamic, aggressive, stalemate breaking play. Am I correct in this assessment? If so, it is a positive influence on the game IMO. TF2 gets stalematey kind of fast, most anything that breaks stalemates should probably be viewed positively

fooqpi do the same, whats wrong?

I don't really know the community here, but generally, unless the site upvotes/likes/whatevers your comment for you, it's seen as poor taste to upvote one's own posts

#19 SMH THESE OPEN PLAYERS [PSA] in TF2 General Discussion

This sort of shit irritates me heavily in competitive gaming. Not just this specific thing, but general lack of respect for your opponent.

Back in older, more 1v1 focused games, just having recorded practice reps against someone really amazing (with a decent ping too) was a rare privilege to be thankful for. Back then, you didn't rage at people who fucked you up, lest they get sick of your shit and find someone more interesting to fight. Instead, you did this revolutionary old school technique where you just said "nice shot" in chat and kept playing.

It was an opportunity to seize, especially when they were willing to slow down, teach you, and give you advice, And when (not if, when) they got bored of destroying you, you threw down a GG, picked up the shattered pieces of your ego and watched the tapes. If anything, you THANKED them for being willing to body you, then headed back to the lab, and learned every lesson their superior play could teach you.

Where's the respect nowadays? Got people whining in the chat because they got bodyshot, calling their opponent bad because they got outplayed, and wasting other people's time with disorganized BS. All I see are salt, excuses, and immature ego ridden smurfers... I hope it's mostly just a problem at the skill level I currently occupy, and someday I'll git gud and get out of the proverbial ELO hell lmao

#24 Fall damage random variance. in TF2 General Discussion
GrapeJuiceIIINot very related to the variance but i think fall damage should be calculated by time in the air rather than speed if it’s even possible. it would eliminate being cratered by rockets and by people just landing on you as you’re falling.

Remove dunks? But why??

#94 nerf pyro in TF2 General Discussion
springrollsBooleanIt presumably only feels like double DPS because of how little you have to aim it, yet in the hands of a highly skilled player it still has less potential than Pre JI
Nah you could have perfect flame tracking pre JI (which wasn't hard the hitboxes are the size of trucks) and do piss poor damage because the hitreg was fucking terrible unless you had 5 ping. Not to mention with mojo or whatever half the time you have randomly less range.

Was LAN pyro like night and day compared to 110 ping online matches? I haven't ever found much LAN pyro gameplay to compare to, and my internet connections have been unremarkable even to nearby servers

pagedMovvalve gets a year and a half to sit down and do nothing besides rework pyro, and the only substantial changes that they made were doubling his dps and making airblast combos completely irrelevant. valve is clearly too scared to make big changes to classes, so we shouldnt get our hopes up for the matchmaking update or the heavy update, because they're too afraid of criticism from randoms on reddit to make any big steps in the right direction, or any direction for that matter. the best way to deal with the pyro situation, as other people have said, is simply class limit 0.

The (perhaps) saddest part is, from raw numbers, they didn't double his potential DPS. If the number I've found is right (166 DPS) it technically got nerfed. It presumably only feels like double DPS because of how little you have to aim it, yet in the hands of a highly skilled player it still has less potential than Pre JI

Pyro's skill indexing now is just so... bad... You can literally just flail your mouse at people and get kills in pubs. The 100 hour pubbers were the reason they killed the axtinguisher, weren't they? Weren't those old nerfs done to appease the "I installed 2 weeks ago and pyro is op" crowd? Because this update positively enraged that crowd if SCUD is any indication. How could you get through playtesting this without realizing the gun is aiming itself? Are the devs just incomprehensible casuals? How did this take a year and a half to make?

How did we start with a few people angry about how pyro doesn't have to aim, head through a pyro rework, and come out with more people angry about how pyro doesn't have to aim

#21 Should a revved heavy have immediate 540 DPS? in TF2 General Discussion

Wut

Reducing rate of fire and REDUCING SPREAD (making it MORE accurate) is what I'm talking about. Not reducing rate of fire and increasing spread, that would be dumb. This would bring his initial damage way down while making heavy drastically more mobile so I'm not sure why you don't like it. The Minigun may not ever be your favorite weapon in the game to play against but that's no reason to just whine about it instead of having a fun little theoretical discussion at how it could be more fun to play against
