#2 CDN-FastDL support for new startup jump servers in Projects

For the benefit of the jump community, our FastDL web servers are now available for everyone to use!

We had previously whitelisted server access on a per-request basis, but we have now upgraded our system to allow use by any jump server. You do not need to ask for our permission to use it.

Simply set the following in server.cfg and you are good to go:

sv_downloadurl "http://cdn.jumpacademy.tf/fastdl"

Optionally, for jump servers with static IP addresses, you can also set up a fallback URL we can automatically redirect your players' client to fetch additional resources not covered by our CDN.

For more information, please visit http://jumpacademy.tf/fastdl

For technical support and map requests, post under this thread.

For the full listing of currently hosted maps, see http://cdn.jumpacademy.tf/?map=all

#1 Jump Server Starter Kit in Projects

Have you ever wanted to run your own jump server?

Whether you wish to simply run it offline for practice, or host it via your own PC for a few of your friends, or even to deploy it on a VDS for your existing TF2 community, we have prepackaged just the tools you need to get started!

Available today is a jump server starter kit (JSK) from jump.tf. Both plugins-only and full virtual machine packages are available.

Head on over to the jump.tf community forums for downloads and tutorials on how to get started:

#1 CDN-FastDL support for new startup jump servers in Projects

Here at Jump Academy, we strive to improve the skills of players as well as the technologies available to the TF2 jumping community as a whole.

In support of this, we are now offering to help new or struggling jump servers across the world that do not have a reliable FastDL web host by providing our Content Distribution Network (CDN) to cover the majority of map downloads.

The system is set up such that FastDL will first try to grab the bz2 archive from our CDN, and if that fails, it will automatically forward the game client to download from your own specified FastDL web host, if available.

This service is free but registration is required to whitelist your game server IP address as the HTTP referer. For more information, please contact our developer AI for details.

Thank you, sir.

#3 [Server] Jump Academy (10+3) in Requests

Sure, the EU servers are both in Frankfurt, Germany.

To sustain the number of servers, rather than attempt to rent them out from various server hosting providers -- this being economically infeasible -- we have partnered with existing server owners around the world who wish to expand the jumping part of their group.

They have joined our cause in promoting jumping in the TF2 community by creating for us new server instances for which we are able to use, control, and standardize. For the most part, the sponsoring communities already have an existing jump server of their own whose player traffic has been a mix of both new and skilled jumpers. Running a separate server with a teacher system helps train the new players a bit before they rejoin their main server to play on the harder but more interesting maps.

#1 [Server] Jump Academy (10+3) in Requests

Following the JA leadership change, we have been able to expand and sustain running multiple jump servers globally via sponsoring communities, each with decent to very high player traffic. I would like to ask for the following servers to be added at your convenience.

A slightly more informative table is available here: http://jumpacademy.tf/servers

IP list:

  • Asia (both are already on the server listings)
    (Korea) www.t4u.kr:27018
    (Singapore) pug.asiafortress.com:26011

  • Australia
    103.1.206.115:27030

  • EU
    31.186.251.212:27015
    95.172.92.4:27015

  • NA
    (West) 74.91.127.161:27015
    (West) 162.248.89.19:27015
    (East) 66.150.155.82:27015
    (East) 162.248.93.23:27015

  • SA
    (Argentina) 181.177.204.220:27023

---
I would also like to ask for the following jump servers from the sponsoring communities to be added:

  • (Australia) 103.1.206.115:27015
  • (Korea) www.t4u.kr:27025
  • (NA) 162.248.89.55:27015

Cheers, and thanks.
