ive heard from people the colors are bad on the vg248 but its like 80 dollars cheaper... (280 -> 350 pre tax)

is the benq one really worth the 350 or can I fiddle my way to decent colors with the asus one? I do watch movies and stuff on my computer so color does kind of matter to me outside of video games

To me the colors are fine I adjusted it a bit out of the box but i can't see anything wrong with it. Go for the asus

All TN Panels have trash colors it's just that the default ICC profile on the vg238qe makes the colors bad. If you customize the colors it will look just as good, if not better, than any other TN Panel monitor. Get the vg248qe, the benq got nothing on it.

VG248QE = 1ms response time (newer)
XL2420T = 2ms response time (older)

That should make the decision easy for you.

I prefer the VG248QE, however, I acknowledge XL2420T does have better color if that is what you prefer.
1ms is really just a drop in the bucket in the whole input lag chain:

You are better off worrying about GPU than the 1ms-vs-2ms difference. Running just 1fps faster, reduces your input lag by more than 1ms. (50 frames per second creates 25ms framebuffer input lag, while 60 frames per second creates 16ms framebuffer input lag).

That said, the 1ms does create a cleaner LightBoost motion effect.

Hmmmm... If I run at 200 fps does that mean that the input lag is much reduced? and what if I then run at 500 fps? Or does it simply not work that far?

it doesn't, usually if you get 10 or 20 fps above the max refresh rate of your monitor, you should be fine

Yeah the frame-frame delay is half that at 120hz. A lot of people still use 16.67ms to determine that "X" 120Hz monitor has like 10ms input lag and thus has less than 1 frame of input lag even though it's really 8.33ms per frame @ 120hz and even less @ 144hz.

Decreasing max pre-rendered frames in your drivers is supposed to reduce GPU based input lag but I don't think nVidia offers that option in their drivers anymore.
