Registration can be done at clash.tf. Invite signups are open until the 15th of May, and Main signups will remain open until the 20th of May.
The total prize pool for this event starts at $2500 USD. The first weekend will feature open and invite group stages as well as the first round of the double elimination playoff bracket. The playoffs will conclude on the following weekend with the remaining rounds, capped off by a Best-Of-5 Grand Final. The tournament will be played using the same ruleset as seen in the Unity Cup last month.
Players of all skill levels are able to participate in this event, so for help finding a team, check out the EssentialsTF Discord. You will be able to catch this event on the EssentialsTF Twitch channel.
DreamHack Dallas
After 6 years, TF2 returns to the DreamHack scene at DreamHack Dallas running from the 3rd-5th of June.
The event will consist of multiple tournaments throughout the weekend, including rocket jumping, 1v1, and dodgeball. Some tournaments will require a BYOC ticket, while others will be accessible from the freeplay area.. Some activities such as jumping, MGE and Dodgeball are already confirmed while others like Ultiduo, 4v4 could be arranged if enough demand exists, so be sure to communicate on the EssentialsTF Discord if you’re planning on attending.
The total prize pool starts at $2500 USD and will be split between all of the competitions, including an online clip submission contest. Tickets can be found here, and be sure to use the discount code “DHDAL22TF2BYOC” for 30% off BYOC tickets.
Drhappiness, ArchRhythm and soda from EssentialsTF will join forces with Connie and eXtine to produce this DreamHack event. We were able to catch up with the big X, to talk about the ongoing relationship with DreamHack and the return of LANs to North America :
I will be working as the BYOC stage manager for DreamHack Dallas. In addition to helping with the festival's construction and breakdown, I'll be facilitating Essentials.tf getting the resources they need, as well as representing DreamHack management when it comes to Essentials.tf helping the festival by covering BYOC events.
DreamHack has been looking to work with the TF2 community for a long time. It's been a serious conversation since DH Atlanta 2019 and more foundations were set at DH Anaheim 2020. We did get some online community clashes, but unfortunately IRL events were hit with cancellations.
With Dallas and onwards, Essentials.tf and the TF2 community are still a big part of DreamHack's community support. The competitive calendar for 2022 has uneXpectedly gotten kind of crowded, which is only a good thing, but this event is a little smaller in scale (and locally focused) than previous DH TF2 plans. It's all about growth though and getting people involved. Dallas is historically a TF2 hotspot thanks to the ESEA LANs and QuakeCon, so I hope we can get a strong showing. The event format is certainly geared to individual/small teams, but hopefully LAN pugs can happen.
Big ups to b4nny and Resup.gg for them putting together an event in place of DH Anaheim 2022. It's eXciting to have such a busy calendar. Not everyone can attend everything, but that's okay.
Shoutout to highfive who I hit some fat airshots on in the Atlanta freeplay area. Shoutout to Aim too.”
