I know Zakirll's and Blindtalent's uncle pretty well. I was talking to him about a month ago and he actually brought up his nephews.

He didn't have much to say about Blind (in terms of how his life is going) but when I told him that Zak had screwed over some people a few years ago he said that it didn't surprise him. Apparently Zak hit a rough patch (maybe around this time 2.5 yrs ago, not sure, maybe a little after) and it sounded like he ran out of money. I don't recall exactly but I think their uncle said that Zak stole a bunch of money from his dad or something of that nature, and that he never actually had as much money as he pretended to have (I remember him running around the TF2 scene like he was the richest guy on the forums).

Honestly I don't remember the details exactly so a good amount of this might be incorrect. I'll talk to their uncle again when I can and find more accurate details.

I think it's more of a response to make the rewards of crowdfunding more secure. Since it is semi-noticeable that perks are occasionally forgotten. Quality control sort of stuff.
