In the wake of the "interesting" findings of the past week or so i was thinking of getting the newbie mixes back online. That being said before I start anything i would like to know how much, if any interest there is for them at this point in time, both as players and coaches. I think they are something that helps the game and out community out but of there is not enough people willing to participate its not worth the time and effort that needs to be put in. So is there interest?
1. i don't think there is a need for the 8? servers tragic has provided, granted there is better upkeep of the servers
2. better admins, and if not, the players have to be actively interested in not trolling coaches and other players
3. i would happy to coach/run newbie mixes
once i think of more i'll just edit my post

I'm down to help.
Also I think the system in general should be revised a bit because the last time I went there, it wasn't very organized.

Thanks for the input griff, and thats what I am trying to do. I want to revive the mixes but make them better if possible, coaches that actually care, servers with stats etc and trying to keep the trolls and sandbaggers out of it, hence why I want to know how much interest there is in them. I want people to take them seriously and use them for what they are meant for, not just another stomp lobby for when you are bored.
I'm also down to help, I'm usually pretty free on weekends.
Newbie Mixes catapulted me into 6's quite some time ago, and I'd love to see more people have that experience. Not sure what the requirements are, but I'd be down to help with any graphics work or coach.
I know Newbie Mixes helped me get started with the game. I would love to see it come back online!
Newbie Mixes were my first 6s games, so I'd be happy to coach or help or in any other way.
Hey guys ive recently contacted noona and will be trying to run these in place of him. I could use as much help as i can gathering as much coaches as possible. I know its playoff season but i was thinking about holding these again every friday for TRUE NOOBIES. Saturdays can kind of be like newbies/UGC pug ordeal where coaches can get in and coach but its more for fun and meeting future potential teammates i would love input on how these can be run better as i also was a newbie in newbie mixes and loved every second of it!
Newbie mixes got me into 6s, I'd like to help too if they start up again
yay someone took my suggestion on noona's thread. I'd defintely join in them, I need roamer and pocket tips.
Well we are getting things rolling, but before anything really starts off we need some coaches BADLY!
Some new rules for coaching:
1. Please have more then a single season on Open, 2 is minimum at this point in time.
- The hook on that is please be knowledgeable about the game, you cant just be a DM lord that runs over things and has no idea why. The newbie mixes are a place to learn how to play the game, what the basics are and you need to be able to convey that in a good way, you need to be able to teach people what to do. (this may seem harsh but with how things went last time people are less then pleased with the situation.)
2. These will be run on most Fridays if all goes well. You don't have to be around for the entire mix, but that being said you need to be reliable as a coach, the pool of coaches is going to be cut down for the sake of quality at this point in time so we will be counting on you to be able to coach some games if needed.
3. Most of all you need to make it a fun place and atmosphere for the rest of people, we are trying to teach others how to play a game we all love and god knows we have spent to much time on it as its.
Sorry to people if this sounds harsh but with the way things went last time something needs to be done to make sure the game and the mixes are a success.
If interested please add me to talk!

I used to help out with Newbie Mixes when Noona was in charge. I can't say much as far as my coaching goes since I don't meet your requirements, but I'd be more than happy to get people in the right mumble channels and servers and try to help out with that side of things.

The requirements right now aren't set in stone, in fact we've already talked about it and changed the wording since Tino_'s post. Expect a more formal opening in a week or two after pie_hero and the gang gets together forreal for a few hours and works details out.

Usually they happened Saturday night. But Friday nights happened at times as well (when there was demand)

if you want to get in touch with me with me on steam (pretty sure i have you added) i can make sure these get plugged on our casts whenever they happen. would love to help organize but i'm pretty busy with other things sorry. D:
I am willing to help out with the organization/coaching stuff.
I've been lurking on these forums for a good 6 months now.
I tried two newbie mixes the last time and loved them, but I've had nothing but mediocre to unpleasant experiences in the 6 TF2 Centers I've tried.
So, I, for one, would be interested in playing.

I've played a little over 100 lobbies on center, and will be playing my first season of lowest of low levels of highlander as soldier fairly quickly. Pretty much all of this was as roamer (well, soldier officially I guess, but in highlander 'soldier' is even more roamer than roamer). Would I still be considered new enough to partake in these newbie mixes (particularly with classes I never played due to higher responsibility)? Also, as I imagine this is hosted in the US, would you object to high-ping europeans joining (assuming it wouldn't be like 4am for me to begin with)?

If I remember well, these started at like 9PM EST (so like ~3am for you i think, idk the timezones that well), but I don't think anyone would mind a high-ping player. These are there to learn, so ping shouldn't be that much of an issue.

We are trying to aim at teaching anyone who doesnt know basic fundamentals of the game. This can include some people who skipped ugc and went straight to low open who didnt do so well. We are going to try out a new pairing system that will hopefully reduce the amount of face rolls that occur. There are no objections to europeans coming at all this is just to learn we just require that everyone play with a good attitude and come ready to learn video games.
