Hello,
I started streaming tf2 with OBS recently and realized that I get frame rate drops which is strange. I am able to stream other games like loadout with a consistent fps of about 60. My pc is new and I get on average about 140 fps in tf2 but when I stream tf2, I get constant from drops going down to about 50 or 60. This makes the game not very fun to play.
here are my pc specs if you were wondering
Operating System
Windows 8 Pro 64-bit
CPU
AMD Athlon II X2 280 34 °C
Regor 45nm Technology
RAM
4.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard
BIOSTAR Group A960D+ (CPU 1) 43 °C
Graphics
Acer V193W (1440x900@60Hz)
1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner)
Storage
298GB Western Digital WDC WD3200AAJS-22B4A0 ATA Device (SATA)
Optical Drives
No optical disk drives detected
Audio
AMD High Definition Audio Device
I stream at at 720p and an fps of 30fps.
Are there any settings I should adjust on my computer, tf2, or OBS to not get frame drops.
Any help is very much appreicated

sounds like your stream quality is too high if you're dropping frames in game. I've posted to the OBS forums before -- they are helpful.

What GHz does the CPU run at? That, with the 4 GB of ram @ 1200Hz seems a little low for streaming.

Probably not. TF2 is mostly affected by CPU performance. Getting a new processor would be your best chance at getting playable frames while streaming.
