Might get a PS3 in the near future

Since the PS4 is now out and I've missed quite a few games on the PS3, I would like to buy a PS3.

I was thinking about getting a refurbished 20 GB one so I could have PS2 backwards compatibility; "my" PS2 is really the family's. However, the only games I ever play on the PS2 are the DDR games, and I don't even know if they work properly with the PS3. Also, I'm the only person who really uses the PS2 anyway. My brother uses it, but I'm sure his friends all have PS2s anyway. I want to be able to play any PS2 games on my monitor since I'm starting college next year and might move into a dorm/apartment, so I'd have to get an HDMI/Displayport/DVI cable for the PS2, or a capture card (probably should get a capture card if I want to stream more games). I can connect a PS3 with an HDMI cable right out of the box.

Also, I'm worried about the reliability of the 20 GB one. I assume it's more prone to failure than the slim and super slim models, especially since I wouldn't be buying it new. Is it better to just forget about backwards compatibility and go with a slim/super slim, and figuring out something else with the PS2?

I've had a slim for about 3 years and it has treated me greatly. I had to get an upgrade from my Ps2 because it had burned out due to a flood in my basement. There are many old ps2 games I wish I could play on the slim like Midnight Club Dub Edition and Burnout Takedown but I had to forget about them. Luckily, Naughty Dog brought the Sly Cooper Collection to PS3, so I can enjoy that.

TO END: I think you should get a slim :>

yeah forgot about that. DDR is still borderline playable last I checked though. I might still have PCSX2 on this computer, so I'll try to check that out.

I'm gonna make this real simple: PS3 Super Slim.
Games required:

[*] Valkyria Chronicles
[*] Demon's Souls
[*] Uncharted 1
[*] inFamous pack
[*] Ni No Kuni
[*] Metal Gear Rising
[*] HD Collections

would recommend a Disgaea game if you like SRPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics with a little more OOMPH.
