#26 lft med in Recruitment (looking for team)

unfortunately i am mostly asleep before midnight, so I'm looking to backup for a team that needs a legit medic backup.

There's a chance I could start BUT I'M TRYING TO AVOID IT :P

#26 What hobbies do you have in Off Topic

I go through phases of what I like to do in my free time. Random things from my past include:

  • Graphic novels - research, purchase interesting ones, reading, support local comic shops
  • Podcasts - crime history ones are what I spent a lot of time listening to, but also random taboo sexual topics that are interesting
  • Classes/learning for fun - I took a comp sci class (I'm already done all my schooling, it was just for fun) to get a small foundation to learn coding and built my PC last year
  • Learning how to cook - really cook delicious things. I try to have a paleo focus (protein + fat), but also try to learn how to combine different foods to make fantastic dishes without a recipe. This is great.
  • Plan future vacations/trips - weekend trips near where you live to far away trips. Planning them can help make them more feasible.

Overall, especially when I was younger, I tried to do things on the side that would help make me a more well-rounded adult that were also interesting - it really could be anything you can research and get into. Beer/wine, South American history, graphic design, musical composition... pick something you find potentially interesting, or you're just completely ignorant of, and do the research. Eventually, you'll end up with some new hobbies or just learning a bunch of new shit in general.

#22 Favorite drink? in Off Topic

whiskey sour / old fashioned
dark n stormy (dark rum, ginger beer, lime)
cucumber martini
margaritas (ofc)

Always check out local drinks though, when I went to the USVI they had this AMAZING drink called a guavaberry colada (guavaberry liqueur is made in St. Maarten and isn't available most places) that I still think about. Have fun!

#8 Monitor purchase time... in Hardware

edit:okay not alienware apparently

What about these two?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M4II4M4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
-->OC to 180Hz, with gsync

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C05C1OK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=AN8LN2YPKS7DF&psc=1
-->also seems to have most of the things

Or is what is commonly recommended, benq xl2411, all I really need? I HATE HAVING TO MAKE THIS CHOICE.

#5 Monitor purchase time... in Hardware

I think I'll go with a 24" actually - it matches my current monitor(s). SORRY FOR THE CHANGE.

Now to find a specific 24" 144Hz that fits my criteria and is the best for the money... finding a specific one is always the issue with monitors for me. Is 1080p fine for a 24"? I have no issues with my current monitor, so I didn't think it'd be important to me.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

#1 Monitor purchase time... in Hardware

edit: purchased BenQ XL2411P

Hi friends,

2016 tax return - I built my PC
2017 tax return - I choose a 144hz monitor

I've done a bit of research, and I've decided that I care about:

  • 27" 24" flat
  • Refresh rate ≥144Hz
  • Response time ≤ 2 ms
  • G-sync preferred but not necessary
  • Input lag < 10-15, but I'm not sure how to find this value.

I care less about:

  • Resolution (maybe 1440p WQHD)
  • Other Stuff ™

Price is negotiable; I'd prefer not to spend over $600 but I'm a big proponent of The Best For Your Money type value.

This monitor seems to hit what I want, but there are ZERO REVIEWS and this makes me nervous. Since I have no experience with brand review, etc., if there are better monitors out there or things for me to know, please holla.

Also, it says "HDMI, Display port & USB cable included," but do I need to purchase a different cable to enable 144hz refresh rate?

Thanks in advance.

edit: I think I'll go with a 24" monitor. My current one is 24" and it'd probably look nicer to just have them match.
