#34 Stop being cancer to new players people in TF2 General Discussion
SentinelAdebisiOn a side note, as a fresh meat player it sucks when better opposition in scrims goof around and play off classes to mid.

I know it can be fun but it really doesn't help the new players youre up against and they ll learn nothing from it. I guess you have no obligation to newer players but it's nice to be helpful right ? And in the long term new player improvement helps keep comp tf2 alive.

Add other fresh meat leaders and scrim their teams instead of scrimming vs mixes that just want to mess around

Yeah ideally but not always possible.

We played open teams that did it. Its not that cunty or anything but it's just not really productive for anyone if we re having the mentality of helping new players.

I will also say that a lot of players were incredibly kind and helpful with the fresh meat cup, including the poster of this thread. So its not all doom and gloom

Ive seen it quite a lot on face it. Often unprovoked

I guess in theory it should be eradicated at all levels. A top level player can still be undeservedly toxic to a mid level medic just because they're not as good. But some people are just pricks so ah well

#15 Net Help in Q/A Help
oktober_I used to play on a powerline adapter too and had the exact same issues. Since ive switched to using a lan cable i get overall higher up and download speed, ping and the rubber banding and timing out completely dissapeared. It might be a hassle to set up the lan cable if your pc is far away from your router, but its 100% worth it.

Back home I did use a cable (I had fibre optic anyway but still). But I have just moved into a shared house which could make it tricky to have a long cable run along the floor to my room.

I'll have to persuade the housemates to upgrade. It just seems odd because the ping and speeds mentioned above surely shouldn't mean the game runs online this badly.

just for reference, here's what it looks like when i'm playing on wifi (worst case scenario)

ignore my low fps and the fact that i have no idea how to record, that was literally my first time using xsplit

Yeah that is similar to what I am getting.

#6 Net Help in Q/A Help

Thanks Sidular (and Sentinel), I'll see if I can contact the ISP.

SentinelAdebisiWifi. I have a powerline adapter also.

Any chance you can test it on ethernet and see if that makes the problem disappear? A lot of people, myself included get unplayable lag on wifi. Ethernet fixes the issue

Err unfortunately not until maybe Sunday, when I can go back to my parents home and get the super long ethernet cable.

#1 Net Help in Q/A Help

Hi all,

I just moved to another city and on Speedtest my ping is 18 and download mbps roughly 15-17. In game ping varies but can often be around 40.

However, when I play, the game rubber bands and lags so much that it's unplayable. I shoot an enemy and it registers nothing and the next second they're way off in another direction.

ANy idea what is going on and how to fix it please chaps?
Just moved from 95mpbs but surely the speeds I mentioned shouldn't be this bad?

#13 Best hud, crosshair and sensitivity? in Q/A Help

I like a small (I think it's scale 16) yellow cross for sniper. Dot is also popular.

HUD doesn't matter at all imo, other than I like a crisp and speedy class selection (irrelevant if you have class switch binds anyway).

Sens, as people say,is largely preference, but I think it depends on how you like to aim. If you aim with your wrist I think there definitely comes a point where it gets really tough to aim precisely and also turn to react. On Scout I find that this happens around 30cm. But there have been great snipers (and scouts) with all ranges or sens so I don't think the sens itself is important, more that it suits how you like to aim and feel comfortable with.

#8 Appreciation Thread for the ESEA S24 GF last night in TF2 General Discussion

Haven't watched much NA TF2 recently but it was good shit from both teams. Really enjoyed it, despite its run time.

I've missed Marxist's casting, though all casters and analysts were good actually.
