#54 QUAKE CHAMPIONS in Other Games
downpouri laugh everytime i see posts like this because arena shooters come out and then a month later have an insane player peak of 100 a day

that's just because the games are always just 'quake but a different name' and don't generally do anything original at all, why pay for a game that's exactly the same tbh

reflex is a great example of this

#169 unpopular tf2 opinions in TF2 General Discussion

I reckon scout should get increased spread to lower his midrange damage, also pocket scout is the easiest role in the game

#36 faceit TF2 in TF2 General Discussion

we have to go super hard with this, even to public players we ought to be trying to push this- could be the best thing to happen to tf2, faceit is legit as hell and we absolutely have to put up good numbers, even just to sign up for beta.

(Is this going to be the sponsor adysky mentioned?)

#15 how do i make my landlord fix my AC in Off Topic
marmadukeGRYLLSgive them a reasonable time frame to get it fixed, and explain that if they let this time expire you will hire someone and take the money out of next months rent to pay them.

don't do this - http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/alcode/35/9A/1/4/35-9A-164

#77 What was your first experience in competitive TF2? in TF2 General Discussion

my first competitive game was on a mainline cup

I had played with some of these guys on an arena server, I only played because they didn't have anyone else and one of the team members shouted at me

I had no idea what I was doing so I asked them what I was supposed to do as a scout, I was told watch the combos flank, so my response to that was to just stand with the medic and look backwards, I'm an idiot

#196 Emotional Experiences in Off Topic

probably a lot of people will judge me for this but whatever

I go through spells where I hear voices when everything is quiet. While I'm in bed, I can hear hundreds of voices, sometimes of people I can recognise- all of them say my name, with a negative tone. Anger, sadness, disgust. I try to tell myself that it's not real, but somehow it still has a real effect. It makes me feel like I've done something wrong, I start to feel really guilty and my stomach starts to twist up as I feel this strong sense of dread. It gets worse and worse until I do something to distract it. It's impossible to sleep while voices shout at you, so sometimes I just don't sleep at all, until I'm so exhausted that I can't stay awake for long enough that the silence starts. When someone calls me by my real name, it just reminds me of those moments.

I guess I'm aware that this isn't a real problem, it's not that nothing bad has happened to me in life, I don't want to sound like an emo 13 year old saying 'you just don't understand' but genuinely it feels worse to me than anything that ever happened to me.

I used to get regular breaks for a year and a half, when I was in a long term relationship I knew I could always sleep soundly at the weekends. He would always come to mine, or I'd go to his. It gave me some respite, because as long as he wasn't angry/sad/disgusted with me, I felt it would be ok, because he was the most important. I had to break up with him, because he borderline raped me. Not physically, he just wouldn't let me sleep until I let him do whatever. The point is it was a huge breach of trust, and I already had trust issues.

#132 Serpents qualifies for DreamHack Summer in News

Speaking as a high team leader that didn't sign up to any of these, the reason is just because the timing wasn't good. Too early or on weekends is just not viable to players who are used to playing for no personal gain.

The idea that teams just don't want to lose, or don't play because they aren't going to win is a pretty rude assumption to make. Teams have always played in etf2l for no gain, and people usually reach for higher divisions. It's safe to say many teams, including mine, have absolutely no chance of winning high, and teams are always signing up to high having come 10th-20th on mid or so.

Personally one of my favourite tf2 memories was beating some div2 russian team on that cp_collis cup like 5 years ago, when I was still a lowly barely div4 scout (we'd just come top3 in div5 I think) and I think we used to sign up to every weekly cup back when they were run (rip monday night madness) but that started at a peak scrim time, not 5 my time.

I understand that this is going to piss some people up, but there's no way I'd sign my team up just to support the community if it's not convenient for us, there's just no reason I'd do that. I'd love for it to be the case that we could all have no excuse to play, I personally would sign up myself, but half of us work, half of us study, and frankly we have more important things to be doing than turning up to support sponsors for a game that probably still won't have a future anyway.

#12 no man's sky in Other Games

I feel like with procedurally generated games, the majority of the content is bland. Computers aren't that good at knowing what's 'fun' for people. I won't be pre-ordering, might buy it on sale if it ends up being good, but I doubt it will be

#6 Talent, skill, and coordination in Q/A Help

I'm not sure how relevant it is but, it's definitely the case that some people just don't naturally possess the right innate mindset to improve, you could say that having the right outlook is a natural talent.

in some cases you could definitely argue that a given persons psyche may prevent them from taking part in a team properly to improve- for instance, a player that is too wrapped up in his own personal achievement to care about team demo reviews and how to improve as a team, caring more about how much DPM he had and how many airshots he hit, is bound to have a harder time improving his non-dm play. Conversely someone with less motivation to be good will be overtaken by people striving to improve.

#44 Reckoner replaces Sunshine in ETF2L S24 map pool in TF2 General Discussion
dizastaFresh maps are + but where did obscure and freight go?

It's been a while since I last played or even watched tf2

people got fed up with them IIRC freight last was impossible to push and obscure had a terrible 2nd point and a questionable last

it's been ages since we've played the maps so I'm not quite sure, someone else feel free to correct me

#21 Stupidest fights you've seen happen in school in Off Topic

On my first day of secondary school (high school for you americans) we were chatting about people we'd met, had two sams in the class, someone said "which sam, the ginger one? yeah hes alright." or similar- turned out sam was in the hallway and he was fucking pissed that someone had called him ginger. He just rolled up and punches the other guy straight in the back of the head.

I guess he didn't want to become token ginger kid or whatever, but it was still a bit surreal
