He was a very prominent FPS player in the early- to mid-2000s. He won over $450k at tournaments in several games (Quake III, Painkiller, Alien vs Predator, Quake 4, UT). He held the record for most winnings as a gamer for some time. He was well known for practicing a ton.

Tino_Man how are people not voting plat on demo? Is there just no one around from that era anymore?
In addition to what others have said, I think part of it comes down to Platinum changing positions so much. According to comp.tf, Platinum switched roles six times between demo, pocket, and roamer on Classic Mixup. Whereas b4nny played every season as demo until season 15. Another part of it may be that, even at his height, he was generally regarded (correctly or incorrectly; I am no expert, merely a reader of old articles and watcher of old VODs) as either no. 2 or 1a for NA demos to b4nny's 1. Platinum himself said (it might have been in his AMA?) that b4nny was better than he was on the majority of maps.
Great player. One of the very best. Wish I had been around in his prime.

Waiting for a spudger to arrive Wednesday, which I need to transfer the hard drive from my old Macbook into the used one I purchased. I would just use Time Machine, but my old hard drive is 1 TB, while the one I just purchased is 500 GB. My most recent backup is 600 GB. With my old Mac's logic board dead, I can't create a newer, smaller backup. So, that'll be fun.
Start getting the next school year figured out, which coaching position I'll apply for (Head JH or Assistant HS).
