#149 Twitch now scanning VODs for copyrighted content in Off Topic
ComangliaHow am I supposed to appeal this if you destroy what could be the only evidence by muting it?

The audio isn't physically removed from the file. It's just muted in their player. They can still review the audio.

#128 StatusSpec in Projects

You need to enable the variables listed in the readme, either manually through your console, or by creating a config file which you then get TF2 to execute (through your autoexec, or again by manually executing.)

For example, you could make sspec.cfg which would have line

statusspec_playeroutlines_enabled 1

Post back if you need more guidance.

Here is an blog saying that a few things about the RUMORS of Google overtaking Twitch:
Why would Twitch create their own music copyright system that competes with Google/YouTube when the latter already has their own? Why is Twitch worrying about storage space and disabling VODs when Google/YouTube has almost unlimited amounts of storage? This whole ordeal seems like panic from failing to make a deal with Google rather than preparing for Google's takeover because these decisions are extremely misguided and harmful.

This is a great article making several great, succinct points to rebut the rumors, which is what I had been failing to see in the past couple weeks.

dashnerAlso, how accurate is the flagging? Apparently it's picking up in-game soundtracks and other bizarre false positives.

Well I can tell you that the VODs of my Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 speedruns are fuckin done, due to in-game soundtrack. So much for that.

turtsmcgurtsbotmodehow do you play music (through say spotify web player) without it playing through your stream
i want to play music but i don't want to have to deal with this :(

there's a software called VAC (Virtual Audio Cable) that can do this, but in my experience it makes the quality awful. your best bet is to get a hardware mixer though.

I came to write about VAC. If you know what you're doing, it can be okay; I used this for the first two episodes of my Whale Calls show and it's great. Honestly took a while to understand though. My experience is that it can be finnicky when it comes to actually getting your virtual streams going (may need to play with different buffers etc) but once they're working fine with sufficient buffers, your quality is unaffected. You could easily listen to music without streaming it and it'd sound great, 44.1 or 48KHz quality.

An okay tutorial is here and the software itself has a Help file with examples (scroll down to the end of the page)

EDIT: Also the stealth edited video added in the post above

#10 Twitch changes archiving, 14 days for free users in Off Topic
hookyIt hasn't been officially announced yet, so I'd say it hasn't actually happened yet.

You're right, but given the very recent Twitch Live Annotations for YouTube feature, the closing of justin.tv, and the new "VIDEO MANAGER" link on Twitch's sidebar added just today (which is the same term YouTube uses) do we really have any reason to doubt the acquisition is coming anymore?

#11 Fundraiser for dashner in LAN Discussion
ExquisiteStoneHigh horse? I don't feel I'm above anyone at all, I personally don't give money to charity, but it's always been weird to me everyone makes sympathy posts on tragic things (like the plane crash a while ago) but when they donate they donate to tf2 players?GetawhaleHopefully we can keep negativity out of this thread. If you agree and feel like it's worthwhile to help dashner go and be part of this immense LAN, and support his ongoing work, hopefully you can make a one-time donation. If you don't think this is a good idea or don't believe in fundraisers, just move on. Nothing for you here.

We all respect your right to an opinion but if you have a problem with fundraising TF2 community members, there's no reason to be in this thread. If you want to complain about these fundraisers, you could certainly start your own thread.

Thanks!

#1 Fundraiser for dashner in LAN Discussion

Hey guys.. I am posting this on dashner's behalf. You probably know him. He's a production guy, he is mainly an eXtv guy but he will be traveling to Europe for i52 to assist with that event. If you're not familiar with what he does, he has brought fantastic production value to eXtv sixes casts, bringing motion graphics and spectacular overlays that are very legit and similar to what you'd see from a sports cast on FOX or ESPN. Here is a link to a recent cast if you have no idea what his graphics work looks like.

Dashner has paid for his trip already, but he's in a pretty big rut now financially. He told me about something that happened with an employer recently screwing him over money-wise, and things are rough for him right now. He did commit to paying for this out of his own pocket, but he wasn't expecting something else to pile on and make it even harder. He's super-stressed about this i52 event and TF2 in general, is stressing about even going at all, and doesn't know if he can attend GXL in October now like he had planned.

He didn't feel like he deserves donations; he's super shy and reserved and just didn't want to ask for this, which is why I'm posting it. I feel like he is a hard worker who adds a lot to the production value we have in casts in this community now. He's a competitive guy who's always trying to outdo himself, and I think it's been great for TF2 casts over the past 6-8 months. I am hopeful that if we could throw a few dollars down to send people like Tagg or smzii to LAN, we can also help dashner with a bit of the burden of this trip as well.

Hopefully we can keep negativity out of this thread. If you agree and feel like it's worthwhile to help dashner go and be part of this immense LAN, and support his ongoing work, hopefully you can make a one-time donation. If you don't think this is a good idea or don't believe in fundraisers, just move on. Nothing for you here.

That's about all I've got. He's a fantastic guy, let's throw him a few dollars and make things a little easier on him. Hopefully he can stick around and keep producing casts well into the future.
