badlands is the perfect art style for tf2 maps imo. coldfront and old snowy viaduct were cool too.

Reckoner looks nice, I wish we had more maps that looked like that.

I'm taking notes, I have two maps that need theming...

I love the classic TF2 dustbowl / badlands vibe, just nostalgic for the game... there are tons of cool custom vibes out there too though.

Playing on an FPS config makes me forget how nice the game actually looks. My favorite themes are probably dark Alpine (like Snakewater, Thunder Mountain, and Mountain Lab), Farmland, and Halloween. Desert themes look classically TF2, but they get a little harsh to look at after a while.

It depends, on one hand there is a theme I prefer for TF2 pubs and nostalgic feelings and the other I prefer for competitive play and clarity
Badlands, badwater, dustbowl have good themes for nostalgic reasons, the color scheme reminds me of Quake. I think it looks quite bad in scenarious outside of pubs though and I know it's not a color scheme I want to look at for a longer period of time.
Product, sunshine and gorge have the best theme for competitive clarity, each side is team colored and the ground is a neutral green and the sky is clear
Industrial night is perhaps one of the most boring and depressing themes ever, perhaps you Americans love metalworks because you get more than 6 hours of sun every day of the year but as a Swede it just feels shit innit, why the fuck I wanna be reminded of my work that starts at 7 am on a Saturday??
Snowy themes can be good but a lot of them feels kinda meh, I remember a friend of mine working on a snowy map that would have an old viking like theme and I really liked running around on that map, TF2 doesn't have a good enough graphical engine to do snow maps justice IMO
Desert theme is like the dust and bad maps, ok in pubs and for nostalgic reasons but pretty bad outside of that

reckoner looks really cool i loved the distinct and bright colours. Cardinal has a really nice colour scheme too it reminded me of a relaxing oil painting or a sunset

My favourites themes have green on them and are bright and err vibrant, like process, sunshine and reckoner.

Though I find it hard to see various xhair colours on process.

Probably good to have more variation in styles though.

i would really like to see a map that combines snow/forest/night themes. i think all of the wintery maps in TF2 look great, and theres been a few that have some outdoors/trees that you dont really see often in most maps (cant think of the name atm but there is one ctf map with lots of trees/logs, and someone made a ultiduo map that looked like it was themed similarly) the nighttime skyboxes also look really good.

the dustbowl/badlands theme is undoubtedly the most canon TF2 setting and never fails

edit: gorge is probably the nicest looking default map

Goldrush/Dustbowl/Well/Badlands/Gravelpit. I want maps to look the way TF2 was intended to feel instead of looking at novel new ways of standing out. At an underlying level there reaches a point where the new art visions begin to feel kinda wrong (Cardinal is one example). Things should also make sense. You need houses, warehouses, complexes, silos, missiles and the so on, not randomly placed bits of geometry. It ought to be grounded in the reality and logic of the TF2 universe.

TF2 is wacky, but it follows its own structural logic. Many such cases where this is neglected.

Snow like Viaduct but I don't think my Scout feels the same way (he doesn't wear a jacket and therefore prefers warmer climates)
