My friends. I live for seeing them at LANs

Also want to know how far I can go. I've been playing on the same laptop for 5 years. Would be a shame to quit before I experience 144 Hz and improve to the point where I feel like I reach my limit. I don't expect to become an actually good player, but I want to reach my full potential at least once before slowing down

Don't think I'll ever truly leave this community even when I stop playing completely. Too many great people I'd leave behind

I love LAN. Online has been kinda sucky for me lately but after I come back from every LAN so far I just sit down and start thinking about how I can go to the next one.

TF2 LANs are the best thing.

I love the mechanics of the game. I tried other shooters. CPMA, Quake, Halo etc. Nothing comes close to the 6s experience I get in TF2. There is also always a way to improve myself as a scout main, whether it is my strafing, my understanding of the enemy strat or my aim. I love TF2 and there's always something I can work on. I also made some good friends within TF2

It's just an incredible game.

For me, it's like any other hobby. I love football so I play and watch it a few times a week and have no real reason to stop getting involved with football. There is no need for it to have a lifespan or for me to decide I've played football for too long. TF2 is the same, maybe something I'll play for another decade or more, if it lives.

I never really understand why people decide they need to quit as such.

I still play because I don't have the will to do anything else with my free time, like doing more sports or learning something. I played so much that it feels effortless, whereas even starting a new single player game feels like a chore.

Same goes for tftv. If I didn't browse it at work i'd have almost no distractions left and I'd have to actually get shit done.

TF2 mechanically and at it's core is a pretty great game. It does things that other shooters still can't compare and don't really have(that includes OW). Although the competitive style/format of TF2 is the only thing I can truly enjoy as there is far less chaos, randomness, and lag while it is also more organized, skill-rewarding, and fun.

It's also nice to stick around to see what's going on time to time and seeing what Valve does(whether it may never be enough or good enough). Sometimes there are interesting topics also and drama stuff(which I think tbh a lot of people have sticked around for forum-wise) to read.

And of course, the comp TF2 community that I grew up with years ago and known has always been an amazing one overall. The players, the contributors, the people who make things happen, and the many great moments we had was always an amazing part of it all. While there may always be some bad apples, there are always the good apples that make this game still fun to play. The community is more of a home compared to some other modern game communities, it's indeed a lot more special in a way.

I feel personally attacked by seeing this even though I don't play anymore but still browse here.

Jokes aside, Team Fortress 2 at the time I got into felt like a one of kind. Nothing on the market was really like it. Especially for someone that didn't even play games on PC before I got TF2. I got hooked on the easy to play but hard to master feeling of the game, it has introduced me to a lot of other people, games and interests I'd probably have never even considered without it. Even now when I don't even actively play anymore, I still hope for and think about the next update and keep fairly up to date with how the top levels of the game are doing.

I've just kind of came to accept, I love this game too much to just stop playing outright even if I play only one every few months from now.

The more I think about it, the more I realize the chances of TF2 being the way it is are so slim, kinda like the chances of life existing on any planet.
I think TF2 is so quickly disregarded because it's such an unlikely story, most people will have a surface-level experience with TF2, they'll launch the game, play at 30FPS on default settings, join a 2fort or a dustbowl pub, get absolutely crushed and decide that they're done with it. How can that even be fun, skillful, interesting?
It's the story of a developer and a community who've been throwing shit at the wall for 11 years and managed to make such an interesting experience, and it mostly worked because people were seeking fun and had a common vision for it.
This vision is not something everyone manages to share, or they did share at some point and grew out of it, most of the time even just marginally.
I think it's very important to be aware about it, if you're to lead any project especially, surely you're willing to do good and help, but you might harm what the people before you have worked to build for now a decade.
It's okay to catch yourself before it's too late, there's always time to take a step back and realign.
This got rambly, apologies.

Customization. Tf2 is one of a kind. It's the only game i know of where i can make my own hud with whatever i want and i can dress my character up with a ton of different items. Also the game feels good lol. you have so many movement options no other game can give you. it's unique. actually it's the only "modern" game besides cs:go that has community servers and plugins and stuff. everything else is all controlled by the companies, and they're all shitters
