match.tf is a tournament hosting platform. Unlike third-party sites, our goal is to exclusively support Team Fortress 2 and unite all the tournaments or LANs that do not have a website, like leagues do. There is no longer need in hosting your own website just to run 1 tournament.

Why is this better than any other service?

Per every tournament created, you will get a full support, a customizable tournament page to keep your rules, info and scheduling and an easy medal distribution for a big amount of teams participating.
But the best part of it is the community. With all the tournaments kept in one place, we will have teams that can be shared across the tournaments, as well as public player profiles to track the progress of participating in various competitions.

Features include

- A customizable tournament page for every tournament
- A system to communicate and notify participants and team leaders
- Powerful match system: match comms, map-specific result submissions. Match scheduling based on team availability. Weekly scheduler. Pick/ban system.
- Weekly / manual brackets, playoff brackets system. Tiebreaking.
- Participation per approval for closed tournaments.
- Roster locks, transfers and all the other stuff you are so used to have on TF2 league websites all around the world.

Right now, we only need you - the people. Help us to grow by hosting your next tournament using match.tf.

Currently in a semi-closed beta state, click here (you have to be logged in on the site) if you would like to participate and host your next tournament using this service.

Almost 4 months ago I got an idea of having a site to unite all the small tournaments, one-day cups and possibly LANs under one big service to save tournament hosts from the struggle of using awful third-party services or even hosting one tiny website just to run a single tiny competition.

The site is currenly in a semi-closed beta state. Which means that not everyone is given an ability to freely host a tournament just yet. Stay calm! You can still participate. Check out this link (you have to be logged in on the site) if you are interested in participating in a closed beta as a tournament host.

And yes, there are some tourneys on their way right now! Get ready and expect our first tournament going public very soon.

Tell your friends about this, invite them over to the Discord and ask your questions!

Very impressive if this works as advertised. Will consider using this platform in the future should the need ever arise.

The original plan was to make a furry dating website where you match with your partner based on your tempus points, but I couldn't figure out how to work with the API.

Also, we have a first tournament coming up - HLMixes Showdown - Season 1. Yea, I know that it is Highlander, but it has some keys in the prize pool and also the medals too!
More stuff coming up soon, hopefully.

looks fantastic, great work!

looking at the hlmixes tournament page I could see future tournament pages being quite cluttered in this format.

It would be nice to have additional options like a "coverage" tab on tournament pages where organizers could embed twitch streams/vods/youtube uploads, a dedicated fundraising/donations tab could also be nice since they tend to be quite elaborate & aren't always relevant to players entering the tournament itself.

A gallery for pictures of medals & maybe allowing for a banner graphic behind the tournament title at the top, also serving as a thumbnail on the tournaments overview would help keep different events distinct from each other imo.
Filters here to view only [6v6/HL/4v4/Ultiduo/BBall] or [Active/Upcoming/Past] would be great & lets you present the site as discovery/exposure platform to potential organisers.

An updates tab where organizers can post about any difficulties/changes to the tournament, announce plans/sponsors for upcoming tournaments etc would be great especially if players could reply/interact with these posts. Haven't applied for organising tools or anything myself but it does look like the main option for notifying players about changes is just editing the info page & hoping people notice.

Really excited about this though as someone that's been considering running small tournaments I'd like to try it out for sure! You should make a match.tf steam group too just for that 1.5% extra exposure ^^

This is actually exactly what we have right now. HLmixies admin decided not to put any image in there for some reason. This banner also acts as a background behind the gradient on the tournament list page.

There is a system that allows hosts to send a site notification to every participant (optionally, captain) that is signed up for their tournament.
There are a lot of features that are not really visible to everyone or people may just not know about, but I'm planning to make a series of video tutorials explaining everything.

But yes, something like at least a "Steam / coverage" tab is a great idea, thanks for the feedback!

You can enforce any rules you want. This is just a tournament system that gives you a way to set your matches, teams and players up.

LBTF2 is back! One of the biggest SA 6v6 leagues is now hosting their 15th season.

EDIT: thanks aratinga. why is it called differently in different information sources?

Thank you very much for this service! There are some... plans possibly in the works for revitalizing the playerbase for this community, and this was one hurdle we won't have to tackle anymore.

AlfieLess white colours please :)

as multiple people requested, here is a temporary dark version patch that can be loaded with any custom style browser extension
at this point it may look a bit ugly in some places, but it should work for most sections of the site. Night mode will definitely be added as soon as I stop updating the site on a daily basis.

edit: it's now the primary version of the site, thank me later

We are glad to announce that we are finally done with hiding the potential of this service behind the wall of closed beta.

Everyone is now free to host and run their tournaments on match.tf.
This does not mean we have stopped working on improving the site. Yes, it is still not perfect, there are so many things we have to improve (thanks to you, everyone who participated in the closed beta and actively shared their feedback).

We would also love to make an announcement. From the boring service we have slowly evolved into an organization.
We have a lot of stuff planned, including: hosting community events with a team of volunteers from all around the world, supporting other events, providing tournament support for community cups and charity events and way more!
As the first step, we have acquired Rally Call - a community event contributing to International Animal Rescue. We will be running the next and all the future events from now on (along with the past team of valuable community members).

Be sure to follow us on Twitter to never miss latest news and updates.

A brief list of site changes:

  • As you may have already noticed, we have changed the color scheme in favor of dark colors. You can still experience minor design flaws (and we encourage you to report those to us!)
  • Not only the colors, but the site layout is now better, easier to use and less painful to work with
  • All confusing tournament parameters not have captions next to them
  • That awful line web in tournament brackets is now gone. See the team progress over the rounds by hovering your mouse on its' name.
  • User profiles now display a list of tournaments they hosted
  • Timezone support. Set to your desired timezone in your profile
  • Fixed a notification bug when sending a match notification to teams with the long name was impossible
  • Try not to drop your uber when you face an error page
  • Tournament admins can now remove their tournaments
  • Match comments by tournament admins now display a "Tournament admin" notice next to their name
  • Fixed a bug that allowed to generate matches without match number
  • You can now upload tournament banners directly to our site
  • Fixed a lot of other minor bugs that could throw a site error (they, however, may still occur)

match.tf is now back online with a new hosting location and new ownership under Printstream.

Why has this happened? We heard that match.tf would end up shutting down very soon due to increasing costs and we didn't want to see that happen to such a useful service within our competitive TF2 scene.

Printstream exists to empower esports, especially within TF2, we operate the EssentialsTF production org, the LANTF website, livestream graphics grid system, Twitch Essentials YouTube Channel and more. We're excited to bring match.tf into the Printstream group and build on the work laid down by 200.

We're keeping the Discord the same for everyone (Join here!) and the existing site admins will be kept on to help everyone out as always!
