People who aren't interested in competitive hate it because they think "compfags" ruined their precious casual hat simulator. I have not met a single person who thinks the in-game matchmaking system was a good update.

#1 Stop restricting graphics options you cunts. optimize your game so it doesnt run like dogshit without a config if you insist on forcing settings. If you are going to force settings force them across the ENTIRE game not just comp (only if you fix your game running like a paraplegic).
#2 class limits are a NECESSITY. GET THIS THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS.
#3 nerf the quickfix so that it doesn't ruin the entire game without a whitelist
#4 Bring back the comunity servers and valve pubs. Quick Play is by far the most cancerous thing ever added to this game.

They actually added it back to the map list in secret for Jungle Inferno, they just never told us

#1 you cant just flick a switch and "optimise." if there were easy optimisations to make, theyve have been done. anything to fix the longstanding problems the game has likely requires a lot of rewriting or even an engine rewrite
#2 class limits arent a necessity, and they're arguably a lazy fix (but basically the best option by this point i'd agree)

#4 the damage has been done tbh. they could bring back quickplay but community servers will take years to recover
#5 see, i dont give a shit about this. all i'd want is the ability to change teams when i can, but honestly if i could never play against friends in a pub that doesnt sound fun to me.

i mean meet your match did ruin pubs for a lot of people and made it pretty hard work just to chill in them with friends. but that whole comp vs pubber hate thing seems to have died out and you dont see nearly as many people wishing the other half would die off nowadays

The game needs a codebase reset. This isn't new information. If they are to lazy and cheap to do it they can fuck off and stop restricting settings.

If you want the classes to stay unique and keep the generalist specialist design they are needed.

So some people say that restricting graphics in mm makes sense because some people are dumb and dont know how to access those commands, and people that do how to use those commands have an advantage, but instead of locking them away and disabling them, why doesnt valve just put them in the options menu. Its a win-win; people that didnt know about graphics configs get better performance and everyones on an even playing field. I've never heard anyone suggest this and to me it seems like such an easy fix.

I just want less downtime with the games, that is what I find the most frustrating with casual at least. This goes for both competitive friends I play with and casual friends.

Sitting in a queue for 4-5 minutes

Joining a server and waiting for a 1-2 minute pregame

Sitting through a 1-2 minute setup

Just to play 2 rounds and repeat the exact same cycle, its so much downtime for minimal gameplay. If anything I just wish for a return to Valve servers on 45 minute map rotations with ability to vote extend and all that jazz. It was so nice to just join and play whatever map I like without worrying its gonna be a 5 minute roll and leave to another map immediately. I don't even feel like XP would be a problem here either because you can just give XP per round rather than per game to make it immediately more compatible with this kind of server configuration.

As for competitive idk I just can't really ever seeing it take off without it heavily detracting from casual if you want to make them similar so the community will remain harshly against any advancements of the mode. Aside from that its a lot of general requests people have had from day 1. Less restricting graphical options, viewmodels, class limits and maps more catered to the mode.

Quick play is what you're asking to be brought back at least how it originally worked. Currently we have casual match making.

Quickplay originally included all valve servers + community servers that were stock map only with not extra configs/etc running. Then quickplay became more restrictive basically only valve servers and community servers running basically the same config as valve servers, and finally quickplay was only valve server BUT you could opt-in to include community servers (and it could be similar to either version of quickplay depending on the checkbox you hit). Finally quickplay was removed for what we currently have.
