Last year with Sal's generous personal contribution and a community-raised $16,000, we sent two North American teams to Telford, UK to face the Europeans on the greatest stage TF2 has to offer: i46.

This time around we're looking to send one North American team back for a rematch at i49. The ESEA S13 LAN winners will be the preferred recipients of the funding.

We'll (TFTV) be running a fundraiser through http://www.indiegogo.com/ starting April 1 through May 30 in an effort to raise the roughly 10,000 USD required to get a team of six from NA to the UK. Plane tickets comprise the bulk of the cost, so if anyone has any connections/suggestions to lessen the expense, please speak up!

Full details will be released when donations open (April 1), but we'll be happy to answer/listen to any questions, concerns, suggestions, etc. here.

he's given his thoughts on this subject publicly a couple times before, but i'll let him answer for himself here

KaeyelAll extra funds go back to Sal I guess?

the extra money raised will go to fund improved coverage of the event and any excess after that will go into the i49 prize pot

Would it be possible to have some sort of streaming or drives every weekend leading up to i49? Even if it's for an hour or two I feel like that would help, plus I would enjoy watching it

Why don't we just buy a spot at some big tournament here in America? Is that even possible? lol
I don't think a repeat of i46 would be very exciting, especially due to the fact that only one team is going.

This has been raised over and over; it'd be far more expensive and complicated (i.e. huge chance to fail) to try and get TF2 instated at a major event that doesn't have it yet. Not to mention everyone in eSports is holding on to their wallets because it's in "careful investment" mode right now.

Please. No more.

Personally, the idea of sending just one team which will be the winner of ESEA LAN (most likely at least) is really cool, because it gives more incentive for folks to play their best at the LAN.

Also, is it true Australia might be there? Because I've all got myself some patriotism there.

Price to send a team to i46: $10,000
Price to buy a spot at DH and all other costs: $50,000 USD

That's why.

Nothing concrete as of yet, but it seems to be a possibility.

Man, I wanna see the Aussie soldiers have a go against the best the EU and NA has to offer.

We're known for our sollies, and Europe is known for the demos.

...America is known for b4nny.
