edit: purchased BenQ XL2411P

Hi friends,

2016 tax return - I built my PC
2017 tax return - I choose a 144hz monitor

I've done a bit of research, and I've decided that I care about:

  • 27" 24" flat
  • Refresh rate ≥144Hz
  • Response time ≤ 2 ms
  • G-sync preferred but not necessary
  • Input lag < 10-15, but I'm not sure how to find this value.

I care less about:

  • Resolution (maybe 1440p WQHD)
  • Other Stuff ™

Price is negotiable; I'd prefer not to spend over $600 but I'm a big proponent of The Best For Your Money type value.

This monitor seems to hit what I want, but there are ZERO REVIEWS and this makes me nervous. Since I have no experience with brand review, etc., if there are better monitors out there or things for me to know, please holla.

Also, it says "HDMI, Display port & USB cable included," but do I need to purchase a different cable to enable 144hz refresh rate?

Thanks in advance.

edit: I think I'll go with a 24" monitor. My current one is 24" and it'd probably look nicer to just have them match.

Product with reviews located here -->right here

Only info I was able to find regarding input lag, but it's asus as far as i have heard they're not known for having input lag on their monitors. Here's the quote: "NVIDIA G-Sync synchronizes the refresh rate of the monitor with your powerful GPU to eliminate screen tearing and minimize display stutter and input lag." (found in the description of the monitor).

If the product comes with a DisplayPort cable, you be able to use that to get 144hz running, no extra purchase necessary.

This might not be the best monitor for what you're looking for, but it's definitely solid. If anyone has experience with this monitor in particular that might be helpful, but I am not that person.

I wouldn't pay $500 for a 144hz, not at all worth. thats 240hz price ranges.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-XB272-bmiprz-1920x1080/dp/B071D6NGMH/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1520039166&sr=1-2&keywords=240hz+27
$55 more for similar monitor in 240hz.

theres a cheaper acer 27" 240hz too with freesync around $440 on amazon

most of the other brands only do 25" in 240hz.

for 27" 144hz TN theres much cheaper ones. benq and asus etc. like half the price.
(the acer abmiprz u linked is a TN panel despite some reports its IPS)

im not a huge fan of acer, their early 120hz and stuff were just awful in terms of input lag.
I don't know about their current models though. acer may be worth it for that 27" 240hz

if your pc can't keep 240 frames or you want to save $200-300, get a cheap 144hz

I would not buy a 27" 1080p if I were you, it'd look pretty bad. I'd at least try for 1440p

I think I'll go with a 24" actually - it matches my current monitor(s). SORRY FOR THE CHANGE.

Now to find a specific 24" 144Hz that fits my criteria and is the best for the money... finding a specific one is always the issue with monitors for me. Is 1080p fine for a 24"? I have no issues with my current monitor, so I didn't think it'd be important to me.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

edit:okay not alienware apparently

What about these two?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M4II4M4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
-->OC to 180Hz, with gsync

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C05C1OK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=AN8LN2YPKS7DF&psc=1
-->also seems to have most of the things

Or is what is commonly recommended, benq xl2411, all I really need? I HATE HAVING TO MAKE THIS CHOICE.

ProSkeezI would not buy a 27" 1080p if I were you, it'd look pretty bad. I'd at least try for 1440p

I find its down to preference in my opinion. I bought a Zowie XL2720 recently and I find it a lot better with the slightly stretched look to it with the larger display still at 1920 x 1080, then again this has a really decent panel so i'm probably just fortunate.
