Good luck man. I couldn't find the will power to give up completely after 8 years of smoking, so I moved to ecigs.
If you want to completely cut the nicotine without replacing a way of obtaining it, try either eating some nuts in a hard shell or other shit that will somehow keep you entertained for a long period of time (this almost helped me). Something you can eat for a long time while still being hungry so you won't like to have the "post-meal" cig.
Once you are past that really hard period of 1-2 weeks of not smoking, try working out really hard, it helps to forget about cigs as well.

Replace cigarettes with a better hobby such as heroin or meth. You'll be so addicted that you'll forget about smoking cigarettes entirely.

I've always used video games in times of stress or trouble. Once i'm playing csgo or tf2 its hard to think about the real world. Basically every time you get an urge just start playing.

Feeling you right now, got hooked last summer working in a restaurant and had to quit before I left for school cause tuition>cigs. After the 2nd or 3rd day it kinda plateaus to just sucking no more like raging headaches and then after the week mark youll just be bored and miss the buzz, or at least thats about how it went for me. Honestly bro you got this cigs are super hard the first 48 after that its just how much do you really care about quitting.

once you stop smoking for 4-5 days you stop feeling like you need it and the will to smoke will be purely psychological, because you are so used to putting a cancerstick to your lips
stay strong, maybe try chewing gum or eating some kind of small snack when you feel the need to smoke

what actually worked for me was using snus. wanted to quit smoking, got a can of snus, used that for like a week to still get the nicotine rush and then just stopped using that because I hadn't developed an addiction for it yet. Havent smoked since.

Thanks for all the tips frens, I've tried quitting with ecigs a few times in the past and it didn't work out because all it did was remind me of smoking so I'd just buy a pack after a day or so. I'm trying to go cold turkey this time, hopefully I can grow a pair and make it happen.

Till then, it's loud music and running on my elliptical every time I get a massive craving

My biggest hurdle with quitting smoking was just the mental aspect of it. Whenever I tried to stop I never really believed I would truly quit not did I really have the desire at the time. The most important thing is believing wholly that you don't need cigarettes and that you will no longer smoke them.

Also smoking weed instead of cigarettes always helped me personally.

i smoked for 3 years and quit about a month ago. i very gradually started smoking less over the course of a couple months to where i was down to 2-3 a day and one day i decided it was my last pack. i still smoke weed and drink moderately so that helps me to not need cigs as much but i still get cravings sometimes (especially while drinking). its more of a mental thing now for me but the first first 2 days were the hardest physically and mentally. sometimes in the mornings toothpicks help me. i also love sweet tea (another addiction). positive reinforcement from friends/family/co-workers helps. uhhh alright im gonna stop, good luck quitting!

Ive quit a few times for a few months at a clip but would use bullshit excuses to start again. Biggest hurdle is the mental aspect. Understand youre not giving anything up, its not a sacrifice to quit smoking. Takes 3 days for the nicotine to clear out of your body so after that its all a mind game. Just remember youre not giving up smoking youre stopping a destructive addiciton.

Would also recommend downloading one of those free apps that shows you how much $ youve saved, time added to life, and cigarettes not smoked. Could be good motivation to keep going

If you've gone 2.5 days without smoking you've made it very far. Just keep it up for the next 2 weeks and you'll reach a point where you won't even want to smoke anymore.

Edit: Just want to add that you will definitely notice your physical health improve by the 2 week mark, aside from the fact that you may notice your teeth feeling a bit cleaner, you won't have a smell of smoke on you anymore, your senses of taste and smell will improve as well. I used these improvements as motivation to stay away from cigs when I was quitting.
