If those teams are actually participating in division 1, I think it'll be just as exciting to watch as Premiership.

Personally I'd really try and push a buddy system, where all the new teams get assigned a buddy from a higher div to show them the ropes, provided you could get enough volunteer buddies. Helped us a lot when we did Fresh Meat, logistically and in playing the game.

Respect to the admins for their work already mind.

This will be great for teams that got moved from mid to high or teams that repeatedly finish middle of the table in high, make it still worth trying during the last few weeks of the season. Great change

some of the teams should probably be moved around in div 1.
redpandas specifically should be moved up especially seeing as we were grand finalists last season.

also i dont know why you have two different naming schemes, would be far easier to have div 1/2 high, div 3 instead of mid, div 4 instead of open etc. would be more consistent with the current naming scheme and prevent unnecessary confusion.

back when there was div 6/5 instead of open, the groups were very arbitrary since you can't really distinguish who the best teams are since most of the players are unknown, I think open should remain the same.
And doesn't losing 3/6 of your players void any guarantee of placements in divisions, at least it does in prem. Not to say these are perfect but people are going to be upset either way

Fuck yeah the rivalries within small divs will return! While it is odd to have 2 round robin divisions as well as Swiss system divisions outside of prem, I think this will prove to be a good change - keep it up ETF2L!

YeeHawbloodis just told me we're being moved up and lego down to div 2.

This is also because of Lego requesting for it while redpandas.tf also requested to be moved up, we will still go through the rest of the tier change requests later today and publish the finalized tiers as soon as we can.

As for the whole naming thing, we can definitely consider on how changing it up to match the previous regular names. Division 2 could easily be called as High again, but the problem comes around when we would need to come up with a name for Division 1. While it could be called as Top High by some people, it still doesn't fit enough properly in my opinion along with the current names.

There's also the thing where people remember Divisions actually having the round robin system played in them, which reflects well enough for how Prem, Div 1 and Div 2 will be ran in this season now, while Mid and Open are known for having the swiss system played in them.

i heard that the only reason this happened was because of low signups (for high), can anyone confirm?

Interested to know if this was a forced change or an intentional one

Permzillai heard that the only reason this happened was because of low signups (for high), can anyone confirm?

it says the reason for the change was low signups on the announcement so thats probably why.

"As High tier has not received enough sign-ups to properly run a season in Swiss System, we have replaced High Tier with Division 1 and Division 2 returning back in to the schedule to run in Round Robin style."

It's been on my mind for a good while to do this change as there was a really noticeable difference with how the fixtures are generated towards the end of the season and how teams potentially could unfairly get to playoffs due to default wins or bye weeks (Very unlikely however due to Tiebreaker score giving teams with default wins the worse score), more so than in Mid or Open tier even.
The low signup numbers for High did force out for us to do something different than a regular Swiss System but instead of making them all into 3 High groups that would run in Round Robin, and to make playoffs within those really hard to do, we opted to rather divide the top High and regular High teams apart from each other to give teams an incentive to climb the divisions once again like in the past.

But to answer your question, we would have done this change at some point in this year anyways for sure, but the low signup numbers for High now gave us a chance to release it out earlier.

yak404Does this mean wildcards are back?????

There have been no wildcards for Premiership either in the past 3 years, so neither are there any for Divisions. Instead of wildcards, teams have been requesting admins to allow extensions to their matches but we have wanted to keep this as something that only Premiership teams could do within actual reasons to be unavailable to play. Exceptions may occur, but do not expect anymore to play your Week 2 officials while other teams are playing Week 5 matches.

because it used to be div1 to div6 and there was no prem at one point.

Also because anyone who ever looked at the tables would know that it's called Premiership not premium. This isn't a saigns server.
