sacpeople in 2015: GIB PYRO CONSISTENT PARTICLES and flamethrower have dps!!!
People in 2018: wtf valve

its as if the community has a bunch of very vocal retards that have no idea what a balance is.
i miss the damage rampup and dropoff in the cone of flames from old pyro, it took the most "skill" to master and catching pyro mains with their pants down with their degreaser was really fun.

Just look at how before the engi update 99% of peoples suggestion was some mini sentry concept and people got what they wanted :DD

yeah they got what they wanted both times with added on shit that ruined both of the concepts. no one asked for 2x damage the same fucking easy way to hit it and the mini concept doesnt work because in a average pub scenario the engi functions just as pussy as level 3s. the concept of minis was to make engis play the game, but because of how they are u can run them and still not play the game which is why the community doesnt like them.

its like we ask for mobility options for pyro they give useless shitty jetpack

sagehonestly would have preffered if they spent time on that godawful MM than "fixing" the pyro -
Pyro wasnt that broken to begin with come on now. Flames had some RNG inconsistencies but at least reflecting made more sense than just holding M1

the "reach" of the flame thrower would go up to a certain point if your ping spiked and then back down again if your ping spiked again or some weird shit like that. It was fucking stupid and broken af. I'm pretty glad they fixed that shit, though the other changes made pyro worse to play against.

Pvt_Parrotmy biggest issue with pyro is the retarded particles which valve broke
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIIgr_qt8mw

like how do you make pyro need even LESS aim wtf

See, this is the shit that just makes me mad. WHO in their RIGHT MIND at Valve would EVER forego per hitbox damage calculation? Especially to replace it with a trash tier system that only checks if you're burning the player 12 times per second? Who the hell looks at a weapon with a ~23 hitbox per second fire rate and thinks "we should make hitting half your shots deal 180DPS and then just cap the damage there lol that'll incentivize aiming"

EVERYONE, from the pubber "pyro is OP" terribads up to comp players, shared one complaint about Pyro: he didn't need or reward aim. A secondary complaint was the LUDICROUSLY buggy particle hitreg. What did Valve do? Made pyro way more consistent in a way that incentivizes aim even less. God why

After watching this I can't tell if I like old pyro or new better. Old airblast was complete cheese, airstrafe stuns you every time and resets all momentum. Then again, old fire was more skill indexed (somehow) than current fire. Pick your poison I guess

What is a balance? it takes the weight of a gold coin and its equivalent in weight of shit and deems it equal. Tf2 is a ten year old game which undergone lots of changes and had lots of different people working on it, and is now maintained by a smaller crew which tries to maintain the game and try to implement community requests and the complaints that were there before the introduction of each update and ends up in doing so putting a lot of time and effort into projects that arent working. And this is because a lot of what the community wants and receives in return gets bad things it never asked for.

I've seen people quit over the introduction of hats, not just becuase of the hats but all the changes it brought along like random item drops, the backpack and the introduction of the crates and trading and keys, was for some people really obvious back then playing and putting money in the game is the feeding of a cancer on games that has since then been a hot topic and even is getting lawmakers involved to potentially ban or regulate this profitable businessmodel. But I have to admit, tf2 might have died already if people lacked ways of expressing themselves with their cosmetics and the sunk cost of staying in the game becuase of the economy.

When the quickplay update was released and the valve servers redirected the influx of random people into community servers, it was for many regulars of this game a bad time since many communities moved on and shriveled, some of them having this unique server culture that made this game way more interesting to join in on for pubbers.

Some of he community like me that remained slowly started to love what they found on the valve servers, watching newbies learn play the game (the f2p update which was lamented by some is in my view one of the best decisions valve ever did for this game) and forming these clusters of poeple finding each other and making friends and hanging around in servers in which the map doesnt change, which means it gave rise to some situations that more resembled as in the old community servers. there were the same autobalance issues for one sided teams but the longer duration and the option of being able to pick and switch teams and all that jazz meant that the remainder was more flexible to switch over and it works itself out better (or dies). People complained about valve servers though becuase it was not the same as the community servers and the issues that arise( long one-sided stalemates)

We got the mym update that tried to adress those issues and is probably the least popular system.

My long winded point is, that with each change that tries to adress the grievances of the community at that time, the community after several times doesnt understand that when you ask for your pound, and expect to receive a pound of gold, don't be surprised its half a pound in gold and half a pound in shit and the balance is in equilibrium. And this is becuase poeple that do work on this game, despite their best intent and willingness can't fix some of the issues without getting some part of it wrong because it lacks the insight that you'd need to fix it just right. So we have trial and error instead, with us as the testbase and we have to learn to deal with it as a community, becuase remember that ugc letter with all the pyromains in NA demanding things and people on reddit, the spuf suggestions of mini sentries and threads here that suggest things, some really good in concept but it lacks in execution when implemented and its not really a surprise anymore.

its not really trial and error though because all of those updates u mentioned including this one, we are stuck with the changes and there hasn't been any signs that they're going to improve those issues for years and years they've been in the game

i think that backburner bug where u can just turn around and it do crits is STILL in the game after the pyro update which was like months ago and even if it isn't it was there for like a solid month

the difference between those updates and this one also is that, for me at least, and i would much rather play this game before they updated it than after, which is something that i never felt about the updates prior because they didn't effect the game i play really, just added some useless shit i would never see in the background that some other ppl might enjoy

I hate the pyro class but the more I think about it the more I realize how underpowered the flamethrower in itself really was before. After trying the class out myself I find myself having...

the tough break update made consecutive airblasts affect air strafing less, which was a step in the right direction.
however, valve decided to annul that by making the current airblast give you ZERO strafing potential. its especially noticeable being airblasted in the direction you are jumping, hitting the skybox without recourse
why?

i think the point just kind of whooshed really hard over your head. the point is that what people wanted was for pyro to take more skill, and in return, valve did the polar opposite and made pyro take less skill.

it's just basic common sense not to do that.
