have a microsoft wheel optical, i've installed

the polling rate doesn't change
i've tried replugging and uninstalling from the device manager but nothing has worked so far
does anyone know what i'm doing wrong/have another way to overclock my polling rate

http://www.overclock.net/t/1597441/digitally-signed-sweetlow-1000hz-mouse-driver
this is the one you want (same one wonderland is talking about)
the link in the OP is dead though

edit: possibly this one is a dl link ?? http://www.overclock.net/t/1597441/digitally-signed-sweetlow-1000hz-mouse-driver/560#post_26169448

edit2: Just realised you said new computer, I know with my Skylake processor (and newer) theres no legacy USB support. As the signed driver was not available to me at the time I had to buy one of the asrock fatality motherboards as they have a 'mouseport' thats works with my mouse (intellimouse 3).
If you have any usb 2.0 ports try those first with the driver.
